Judgey Pants or Not:: Taking a 7 mo out to lunch in their pyjamas

...on the basis they have a cough and have been up since 2am with it.

I just wouldn't. Surely if they're too ill to have clothes put on them they're too ill to go out?

Or has my mother just drilled the 'if you're too ill to go to school, you're too ill to go out to play' mentality into too hard?

Hold on it gets worse, a few months later she found a very similar hand bag to match!

Because that is just what a 4 month old needs isn't a Pink Poodle Handbag?

Morloth · 21/08/2010 22:48

I was prepared to say YABU about the pyjamas when I thought it was a 7 year old. Half the time I don't change DS2's clothes at all (if he doesn't leak on them) until bath time.

Not so much about the sick though, sick bubbas stay at home here.

deemented · 21/08/2010 22:50

My dd was bought a pink unicorn handbag for her first Christmas. She was seven months old...

QueenSconetta · 21/08/2010 22:51

Mugglewump, yes sadly my arse is wider than it used to be Grin

Morloth, re sick, in fairness he was perfectly happy and seemed fine in himself.

mugglewump nothing wrong with daytime clothes if they're more or less waistless and comfortable.

Romper and cardi is no different to a sleep-suit except it does look as if you've made more of an effort and I really love that look actually.

I don't see the point in buying "proper" jeans or dungarees or skirts or dresses for non-walking children even if they're soft which some of them are. New babies aren't dolls.

QueenSconetta · 21/08/2010 22:55

Maryz, you have outed me! Indeed she is a PFB, I think you're right, a fair amount of words may be eaten in the future.

Shock at the thought of 3 under 3 though. Nothing but admiration for people that manage to leave the house with 3 under 3!

I dress my DDog in pyjamas too Blush

seaturtle · 21/08/2010 22:57

DS lived in babygros for his first ten weeks. And even after that I discovered some of the all in one playsuit things I bought him for wearing during the day were meant to be pyjamas. They were comfy!

LOL at the pink unicorn handbag.

YANBU about sick baby though. I personally cancel lunch dates if I have a sick baby.

SingItBack · 21/08/2010 22:58

what a hoot, my 2 DS's lived (and the youngest is still living) in babygro's until they were/will be about 1 I should think...........

maybe a smattering of dungarees for special occasions, but other than that............Grin

deemented · 21/08/2010 22:58

Actually, now you mention it, maryz you may have a point - DS3 is my fourth born.

With DS2, he was my precious baby, and wore 'proper' clothes every time we went out, and most days when we didn't. Vest top, trousers ect. Then DD came along when he was three and i dressed her 'properly' only if we were going out somewhere where people were likely to see her. Now i've got to the point with DS3 where i don't actually care - it's sleepsuits all the way!!!!

What? Really, what?

They make pyjamas for 7 month olds?

Umm...I was definately babygros (sleepsuits to some) until 7 mths...,hell a year and then dungarees until firmly potty trained.

Nothing naffer than a baby in an outfit. Oh to be a baby... all snuggly.

QueenSconetta · 21/08/2010 23:02

Lol, SingItBack, I read that as 'until they were/will be 11' . 11 MIGHT be a bit old, lol.

2kids2dogsandahorse · 21/08/2010 23:03

oh I don't know, my 2DDs have hardly got out of their pyjamas this holiday Blush

SeaTrek · 21/08/2010 23:04

I am shocked to see that I have spelt definitely wrong, AGAIN! Yep, son live in babygros for 1st year...I am sure the two are related Grin

SingItBack · 21/08/2010 23:07

yes, 2kids, I am sure DS1 who is 4.5 would have loved to be able to wear a babygro. He has worn his pyjamas until aprox 5pm most days over the summer, unless he absolutely HAD to change

QueenSconetta · 21/08/2010 23:11

muggglewump · 21/08/2010 23:15

Ah yeah, I have an only, which explains me wanting to dress her in clothes as a baby, if you can call a romper clothes.

She's 8 now and I still like her to look nice.

I only get one chance, in a couple of years she won't wear anything but PJ's or designer clothes. Given that I'm skint, she'll be in PJ's an awful lot!

2kids2dogsandahorse · 21/08/2010 23:19

I have a babygro Blush it's a primarni one and I love it to bits... what's even worse and makes the DDs cringe is when DDog wears his matching one Grin

QueenSconetta · 21/08/2010 23:19

Right ladies (and any gents lurking), I'm off to get changed out of my pyjamas and into a party frock to get into bed Wink

Thank you for joining in and good night to all, x.

OP posts:
Bumperlicious · 21/08/2010 23:31

At 7 months old how can you tell? What's wrong with babygros for a 7 month old? Surely that's what you mean by PJs? Has it really come to the fact that we are judging what babies wear?

I find it very strange to take so much interest in the clothes young children wear. It really shouldn't matter.
