Do I keep it???

DH reckons if I hand it in to the police it'll just make it into one of their pockets, but I can't help thinking it might be some little old lady's gas money...or not!

WWYD?

OP posts:
booyhoo · 19/08/2010 19:54

yeah cause that makes it ok. Hmm

Ryoko · 19/08/2010 19:58

I mean cash on the floor and you know it.

scurryfunge · 19/08/2010 20:00

Explain Ryoko please.

RubyBuckleberry · 19/08/2010 20:01

police are corrupt
they're not corrupt
they know the law
no they don't
they lie
they give receipts
they would have kept it and gone to the pub hahahaha

Confused

would have looked about, asked in shops, hung around for a bit, probably kept it, sorry Grin

scurryfunge · 19/08/2010 20:02

Ruby you are fuckin' nuts girl.

booyhoo · 19/08/2010 20:03

cash on the floor is exactly the same as cash in a wallet or account. it belongs to someone. unless you actuall saw someone throw it up in the air and walk off you are committing theft by putting it in your pocket and not trying to find the rightful owner.

and you know it.

RubyBuckleberry · 19/08/2010 20:03

no but everyone is saying different things!

scurryfunge · 19/08/2010 20:04

It is called "the internet" Grin.

RubyBuckleberry · 19/08/2010 20:05

lol Grin

booyhoo · 19/08/2010 20:06

yeah, that's because we are all different people with different opinions and experiences. we are not one mind.

CupcakesHay · 19/08/2010 20:07

Well done Berri. I would have done the same and handed it in - just put yourself in the otehr persons shoes.

I remember when I was 8 finding a ring and hading it in, and the little old lady who's ring it wsa bought me a Sindy as a thank you present!

And i don't think the Police would nick it! Or am i viewing that through rose tinted glasses? Wink

Morloth · 19/08/2010 20:08

What is it lately with people thinking that everyone on Mumsnet should agree? We are not all the same person you know, everyone is different with different backgrounds, morals, situations etc.

Maisiethemorningsidecat · 19/08/2010 20:09

May all of you who would keep it lose £90 at some point in the future - or your mum, or your granny - and may someone else pocket it.

booyhoo · 19/08/2010 20:10

Grin @ maisie

RubyBuckleberry · 19/08/2010 20:10

alright keep your knickers on Grin

complexnumber · 19/08/2010 20:11

A LONG time ago, just after my A' levels, I went on holiday with a bunch of friends to Majorca.

On our last night we drank a lot, and on the way back to the apt made the aquaintance of a simalarly drunk German tourist.

He came back to our apt and all was fun for a while.

Then he started getting aggressive and pulled a knife from our kitchen drawer at one point.

(I'm getting to my point soon!)

Anyway, he went away. The next morning we found he had left his trousers in the hall. Inside was a considerable amount of money, we discused what to do with it... and decided to share it. Given that he was so obnoxious the night before, and that it was our last day.

I often wonder if that was the right thing to do.

Maisiethemorningsidecat · 19/08/2010 20:12

Beware of the Maisie Curse, I tell you. They do work [scarey, freaky emoticon]

booyhoo · 19/08/2010 20:13

compensation for PTS? he really deserved bad karma tbfair.

scurryfunge · 19/08/2010 20:14

Sort of a reverse robbery then complexnumber?

He pulls the knife and you get to have the money. Cool.

booyhoo · 19/08/2010 20:15

maisie you have me panicking now that lot sof people will lose £90!!

my friend dreams stuff an dthen it happens. that can be quite scary when she tells you she dreamt taht you died.

Maisiethemorningsidecat · 19/08/2010 20:20

You should be panicking. Seriously. I actually get quite worried sometimes by what I wish for that then comes true Shock - although anyone who would pocket £90 and not do their utmost to try and return it to the person who lost it deserves really shitty karma.

booyhoo · 19/08/2010 20:22

do you think you will use your powers for good or evil maisie? Grin

Ryoko · 19/08/2010 20:24

It's not the same because unless you are going to check it for prints it's just untraceable money.

I could walk into the police station tomorrow and claim I dropped £20 somewhere on my way home, chances are someone would find £20 within that area sometime.

scurryfunge · 19/08/2010 20:25

Ryoko, seriously distorted thinking there.

Watch your handbags ladies.

Maisiethemorningsidecat · 19/08/2010 20:27

Ryoko - I wish the loss of £900 on you or your family. Did your parents simply forget to teach you that it's wrong to steal, or did they actually opt out?
