... then throwing it in the wash? After all, when you use a towel you've just had a wash right? So you should be relatively clean.....

How many times do you use your towels before you wash them?

This is possibly a overly sore subject for me atm due to the recent birth of DS resulting in a HUGE increase of washing! I'm worried my machine is going to konk out! :-/

I wash towels once a week or if they look manky earlier e.g in the downstairs toilet the towel looks manky every day Hmm as the concept of hand soap isn't understood.

I wash our towels once a week on a Friday and then clean ones get put out. We have our own hooks so that they never get mixed up.

Those of you that wash towels daily - how many loads of washing do you do a week out of interest?

YANBU - waste of money, time etc.

Have you tried telling him where he could hang his towel to dry though? Might sound stupid but my DH would probably chuck his towel in the wash every day if he didn't have a predefined 'system' to go by!

We all have a towel each and wash them once a week, hanging them on radiators etc to dry after each use. I wash tea towels and hand towels every couple of days.

We do individual towels and they get washed probably every week - the concept of hangign a towel up to dry though does seem to have eluded my sone (in his 20's). Hardly ever use facecloths as I feel they are horrible things. And always drip dry any dishes that don't go in the dishwasher as again I'm not a fan of tea-towels.
Have to say I'm slightly envious of whoever it was said they had a housework routine!! My routine is ..... if it looks like it needs doing then do it (or hide it in the spare room).

YANBU towels get washed weekly. After 1 use they need drying not washing. I'd discuss this with him and discuss where you are going to dry wet towels. If he wants them washed after every use then tell him the washing is now his responsibility, although I wouldn't live with someone that environmentally unaware.

Just looked at my last post. I meant 20 year old DD not 30!
