Private companies checking benefit claimants

David Cameron is going to work with Experion to check that benefit claimants are not spending money that they should not have. I think it's a great idea. Why should taxpayers pay for someone who doesn't work to have Sky TV, a car or a huge TV? If they can afford these, either the benefits they are receiving are too high or they have another source of income. Surely benefits are to keep people out of poverty and that is all?

mummysgoingmad · 10/08/2010 19:40

oh thats just great, now i'm not allowed ssky or probably broadband for that matter! Hate the tories with a passion!!

tethersend · 10/08/2010 19:41

How will it differentiate between partners living with claimants undeclared and private child maintenance arrangements?

FranSanDisco · 10/08/2010 19:49

I can see where he's coming from though. My friend and her dp get £400 a month housing benefit which they top up to pay their rent. She has just told me they are going to get a loan to buy a new audi a4 estate this year as her current car is too small. If she can afford a car loan why does she need the housing benefit. If the system allow it though I can see why people abuse it.

Thats NOT what this is about

This is to catch fraudtsers- people claiming single mum help when not single, taking out huge fuck off laons for cars whilst on JSA, having 16 addresses or using ones rented to other people

Nobodyc ares about or has the time (especially when theya re paid on a piece work style rate) to worry about whether you ahve Sky or a mobile phone.

And I am no Tory either!. But please don't panic/

All they can see outside of credit agreements and info entered on old forms is
data such as occupancy and apaprently a figure for bank accounts once a month.

Not what we buy or how much for,

fran why don't you ask her? Rather than speculating about her misuse of finances on here.
