I love my stepson - he's great.

He used to be vegetarian but is now vegan. It is a PITA buying stuff for him to eat, so much stuff has lactose and shite in. But, anyway, I cook for him as (a) I am anal about my kitchen and (b) well, he is part of the family. He usually has curries because that is the easiest thing to make. So it's no problem really.

At the weekend he went out and got a bit pickled, came home with a chicken from nandos. He also demolished a load of cheese.

So yesterday I jokingly laughed at him for falling off the wagon. I just said that i assume that I didn't need to go all out and buy vegan stuff any more (soya milk, free from bread etc) as he obviously wasn't that militant about the veganism.

He said no, he still wants to try and be vegan.

AIBU to think this is all a load of old nonsense, it's not as if he got pissed and just slightly fell off the vegan bandwagon and had a bit of cake with egg in it. He had chicken and cheese!

but it's a waste if he doesn't eat it lovescats...

and she would need to use MORE if she was cooking for an extra person. so of course it would waste it

i find your stance on this really most peculiar

Yes it is possible to do stupid things you would never dream of doing whilst under the influence.
I once woke up with the remains of a burger wrapper under the bed, the wrong man in the bed and probably a bellyful of inappropriate wine full of fishbladders.
I learned my lesson and moved on. Fortunately I was far far away from members of my family with elephantine memories.
It was a nice burger, and a nice fella, just not my lifestyle of choice when sober. Grin

I love the fact you prioritise the wrong burger above teh wrong fella! Grin

You're confusing issues. This is not about one of those annoying people who are vegetarians unless it's the kind of meat they really like. This is a guy who got consumed an inhibition-lowering drug (alcohol), had his inhibitions lowered, and woke up to find he had done something that is against his principles when sober. Which happens all the time. A friend of mine once got drunk when trying to get over a rejection. In the morning, as she sobered up, she realised that she had slept with the Rejecter's two best friends. At once. I will not go into further details, unless people ask very nicely.

Serving him chicken and cheese would be more cheese and chicken used. Even if the chef is using those items anyway. GetOrfMoiLand seems a pretty nice person, but I don't think she's Jesus, and so she should be unlikely to replicate his feat with the five loaves and two fish.
