A friend just popped round with a present to celebrate that I had started my periods again after having the baby :D

I was sulking about it, and now I am grinning from ear to ear :)

She sometimes comes on here, so, hi if you are reading this, and THANKYOU.

This is an actual milestone, and I now feel that it has been acknowledged. Ace.

Now, time to break out the mooncup...

'hantowel' is not another form of environmentally sound sanitary protection, hand towel

I like what you're all saying, I'm going to get one!!

Morloth · 09/08/2010 19:15

Stamps foot, I want to use a MC but am allergic.

I don't get the yuck thing, surely you are already handling your blood if you use a tampon/napkin. And it is after all your blood so what is the problem?

SecurusScriptor · 09/08/2010 19:24

I don't know Morloth.
Just one of those knee jerk reactions I suppose, when you actually think about it all those logical things become apparent but until that point I just thought, yuk!

tyler80 · 09/08/2010 19:41

Morloth, you're allergic to latex and silicone?

Clothilde · 09/08/2010 19:43

I love my mooncup! It's so much more comfortable than the alternatives.

MumNWLondon · 09/08/2010 19:52

I love my mooncup. I haven't used it for ages as no periods just now as EBFing.

I can see that its not everyone's thing, but for me its great. The benefits for me are - more comfortable for me than either pads or tampons (which make me feel dry), cost (its a one off purchase), and its easy eg don't need to take tampons with you in your bag etc. And of course the enviromental angle too.

Galena · 09/08/2010 20:39

I love my mooncup too. I have very heavy periods and find I still have to empty every 1.5 - 2 hours, and I use a nighttime towel as backup too. However, it's not yuck and is no more messy than a tampon. I ike the hint about putting paper down first as I keep having to flush 2 or 3 times.

So, just to enlighten, I'm securus scriptor and I have just bought a mooncup! I can't wait to use it. Grin
