are attention-seeking, narcissistic, smug and haven't got a competent grasp of the English language?

Granted this is based on a very small sample, but ffs, does the general public want to see so many photo's and read so much inanity about your everyday life.

Humdrum and boring.

Yes, I know I don't have to read them, and after my recent experiences I certainly won't be seeking out to do it again.

Now, I'm off to my own quite humdrum life, I won't bore you with the details.

My blog is a kind of recipe scrapbook crossed with a kitchen and garden diary. It works well for me on a practical level plus I enjoy writing it/taking photos etc. It's been a good way of meeting other wholesome dullards people with similar interests.

I have a small number of followers and I'm quite happy with that, what I'm not really good at is all the schmoozing that goes on, ie "you comment on mine, I comment on yours" and those faux awards that circulate. I just write the thing and people can read it or not.

How can I see MmeLindt's blog? I want to feel sick with jealousy.

MmeLindt · 04/08/2010 17:13

Did I show you the photo of her dressed up in Ikea?

And I positively feel like puking when significant others are referred to as 'The Tall One' or 'He Who Must Be Obeyed' or 'The Clever One'.

Yuckety-yuck.

isthatporridgeinyourhair · 04/08/2010 17:34

Daphne should have her own blog tbh. She has star quality. She already has a stalker in SGM

FellatioNelson · 04/08/2010 17:37

mangoandlime have you got your threads in a twist? Should this be in 'phrases that make me MAAAD?'

ItsGraceActually · 04/08/2010 17:37

Oh, lol, THIS is what AIBU's all about! Well done, OP

YABU of course. Bookshops are full of books I don't give a shit for, but I wouldn't say they shouldn't have been published. Same diff

Those that blog are weird.

Those that read them weirder.

Those that blog about blogs they have read are the weirdest.

It's one step up from the people on FB and the like, that post 256 photographs from one night out, 'this is me on the way to the toilet, this is me opening the toilet door, this is me handing my bag to my friend...'

TitsalinaBumSquash · 04/08/2010 17:41

ProfYaffle - I really like your Kitchen garden blog, i ocassionaly have a peek to see what your doing with things from the garden.

Gibbon · 04/08/2010 17:42

I sounds really bitter in that post but it was all said tongue in cheek

Gibbon · 04/08/2010 17:42

well ish

mangoandlime · 04/08/2010 17:42

FellatioNelson No, it was meant for this thread, absolutely!

FellatioNelson · 04/08/2010 17:45

Oh I see - people on blogs use those terms!

ProfYaffle · 04/08/2010 17:46

I had a peek at yours too Titsalina, will be putting some recipe requests in!

FellatioNelson · 04/08/2010 17:46

I'd quite like to start one. I could do smug and navel gazing and self-absorbed, no problem. I just don't have the technical ability, hence no photos of anything on my profile. In fact nothing on my profile whatsoever.

Gibbon · 04/08/2010 17:53

I like blogs. I don't currently have one but I intend to when I find the time.

If someone has a burning interest in Jane Austen, or frogs, or wallpaper design, or marxism, and they are surrounded by people who don't, it is a great way of meeting like minded people.

Generally, blogs are not meant to be shared with the whole world.

The internet is like conversations in a pub. If you hear someone stood at the bar talking about that paws of a lion, and that isn't your interest, you are not obliged to listen or pay attention, simply because the conversation is happening in a public space.

As for the belief that they are thwarted journalists, I actually think that bloggers show how ignorant, poorly researched and poorly written a lot of the stuff that passes for journalism actually is.

PfftTheMagicDragon · 04/08/2010 18:35

I used to read a blog written by a guy who did hilarious scathing reviews of Americas Next Top Model every week It was called FourFour or something like that.

ValiumSingleton · 04/08/2010 18:39

I know one woman in rl and she is the type who can always top your story, she interrupts you, doesn't really listen - she has a blog and I admit when she told me about her blog (which she links to her fb account) I did think, hmmmmm.

lucky1979 · 04/08/2010 19:02

I love the temptalia blog, which is bascially make-up porn. Blogs about people who I don't know and don't do anything out of the ordinary are dull though.

TitsalinaBumSquash · 04/08/2010 19:11

Thanks Prof - i only started mine yesterday and im hooked already, it is hideously unprofesional though, i plan to remedy that!
