to think that shaving your 'lady parts' is no different from shaving your legs?

I have seen so many people on here say how it is offensive to shave your vagina, that it's conforming to the porn star image, that men who like it are strange/perverted, it's not natural etc.

But I have to ask, do those of you who take this 'natural' approach with your erm..area, not shave legs or armpits too? Btw I am not referring to those of you who keep it natural just because you/your partner prefer it that way, I am addressing those people who see it as offensive or wrong etc. Because in this case, surely you would be hypocritical to shave other areas?

I don't have a problem with anyone doing it but for me I don't like it.

I was sexually abused as a child so for me to shave would make me identical "there" to when it happened.

mugglewump you epilate ?!? Respect. Trying to epilate my leg made me cry.

wornoutbutstillwonderful · 29/07/2010 21:07

i've always shaved (i just leave a little strip) and always will i feel nicer when i do.
I had an emergency c-section 2 years ago and the midwife laughed and said she didn't have much to do down there

Snobear4000 · 29/07/2010 21:24

Do your own thing! Be hairy, be trimmed, be totally shaved, who cares?

BTW, as a chap, I can reliably advise that gentleman are for the most part more inclined to "dine in" when things downstairs are less hirsute. That may be some encouragement to epilate. But please, don't judge either way, it's a private thing for sure.

I use hair removing cream for my lady garden...... I dont do it for anybody but myself and find it loads more comfortable especially when I'm on my period.......each to their own i say......

Colliecross · 29/07/2010 21:53

Which cream eskimoo ? I find them all so itchy

GirlWithTheMouseyHair · 29/07/2010 22:35

I'm with you mugglewump...I have no interest in pre-pubescent boys but DH knows he's much more likely to get a blow job if I'm not going to get a load of hair in my teeth!

I get a brazilian when i can be arsed, use in-shower cream or shave in between and always regret not waxing. I do it because sex is sooooooooooooooooooo much better (especially if DH goes badl too) and feels way more hygenic. Maybe this is brainwashing, but it's bloody good brainwashing.

I feel sexier with smooth legs. I feel sexier with a smooth fanjo (though always have a natural looking landing strip).

I removed pubic hair with cream around my due date because on top of everything else post birth I assumed it would be much easier to keep the area clean through the weeks of bleeding if there was no hair in the way - so definately not pride infront of the midwife (when she sees you poo I'm sure she then doesn't give a shit what state your lady garden is in)

NotAnotherNewNappy · 29/07/2010 22:40

YABU - because it would be like trying to shave the carpet.

lifeinlimbo · 29/07/2010 22:45

muglewump I guess getting hair in your mouth depends if you go to the hairy bits. If he is very small you might be near the hair too I suppose, and some men shave there to make it look bigger. I expect the ones who watch the most porn would be most likely to be affected by what they see.

Snobear I dated a gentleman who um.. was down there all the time. This started in the winter - so not even 'bikini styling'! It depends on the man I think, some just arent that keen on it.

muggglewump · 29/07/2010 23:36

Huh, again huh?

What's that all about?

I like men, if I'm into one I won't make a point of his hair, or lack of.

Sure, I'd prefer they had no hair, but it's not like I demand it.

meltedchocolate · 29/07/2010 23:47

I trim mine because it is a pain (I am a forest lady ) to leave and also to please my partner when he was still about. Why? Who likes to floss with pubes? It's not that it looks bad or anything but it seems to me to be more practical in sex (easier acess). It allows your man to see what turns him on (lets be blunt if we are gonna talk about 'bits') and why wouldn't you want to turn him on? I just don't see the big deal. If your man is that bothered and you don't like it, dith him. Simples. What I decide to do with my bits isn't anybody elses business?

'Encouraging the porn look' ??? Sorry but if you are encouraging the porn look too many people are seeing your bits!!

meltedchocolate · 29/07/2010 23:47

that was ditch him of course..

Eskimoo · 31/07/2010 19:58

colliecross I have had no probs with either boots own brand or immaac......

2kids2dogsandahorse · 31/07/2010 22:09

I epilate too just leave a landing strip and all off below and it hurts a hell of a lot less than epilating your pits

I do it because I feel cleaner it's nothing to do with whatever anyone else did and I also did it the whole time I was single so I suppose I definitely do it for me and nobody else. I also had it all waxed off before I gave birth because of the bleeding gack
