Oooh, does anyone else despise "nom, nom, nom", some sort of "yummy" alternative (not that I say yummy either)? I just can't bear it, it makes me want to punch whoever said it

nom nom nom is the reason I don't play that cafe game on Facebook anymore!

Our pastor is Aussie and says "awesome" a lot, sounds a lot better than American "awesome".

My biggest one is the "wannabe black" talk. I remember a girl I'd been in a meeting with doing it, then after the meeting we were chatting and she was really well spoken.

I was talking to a Canadian friend on Skype recently, she posted something that is on a sign welcoming you into a nearby town. I said it looked a bit like a million welcomes, but what she posted wasn't "Caed Mile Failte". We tracked down that it was indeed supposed to be that. She said "Oh well, language evolves" I was speechless! You don't evolve Gaelic, especially when you don't even speak it yourself!

I can't stand my mum (58 this year) telling me to chill out, take a chill pill etc GRRRR! It's bad it enough when someone who isn't my mum says it but when she starts, omg my blood pressure goes through the roof!

Does anyone remember that Shaggy song It wasn't me? My dad still quotes that fucking line whenever he's accused of anything, be it farting, parking badly or upsetting the DC Just stop it you old git! It's sad!

I say chillax a lot especially to my ds - he listens more when I use interesting words

RubyBuckleberry · 29/07/2010 20:11

you lot must be OLd

TheCoalitionNeedsYou · 29/07/2010 20:58

I bloody feel it too.

scottishmummy · 29/07/2010 21:07

chillax sounds like an ole gimmer trying be be down wiv da kids

MarineIguana · 29/07/2010 21:19

I say chillax but as a joke, and in a silly voice, and probably only to DP or DS.

But what drives me really mad is people using things like "hilariously" and "ludicrously" and "stupidly" as an emphasis as in "it's ludicrously tasty" and "it was stupidly brilliant " FAAAARRRRK OFFFF

Also can't bear nom nom nom

And as for fist-banging or whatever it's called and high fives - it's OK if you're 10, but I just want to squirm with embarrassment when some 35-yo acquaintance who works in HR tries to do it to me. They never succeed either, they just get a blank look as I never realise what they want me to do until about 5 seconds later.
