veyron - my DH does that too, complete with American accent. Comes out sounding like 'arse-sum'.

FindingMyMojo · 29/07/2010 13:51

is it coz you is old sparkle?

English is a living language, it's your choice if you choose to make it a living hell by getting too uptight about stuff.

ChippingIn · 29/07/2010 13:51

Chillax - there's no way I will either 'chill' or 'relax' if someone says that, for some obscure reason it really makes my bp goes up!

Mind you - I hate being 'ordered' to chill or relax as well, it just inflames the situation! It's like telling someone to 'calm down' - it really doesn't work does it!!

FindingMyMojo · 29/07/2010 13:55

"Calm Down Dear" in the voice of Michael Winner is GUARANTEED to get a rise out of one of our colleagues. We do it quite often if she is kicking off. Usually met by a whole lots of variations of the f word strung together in shouty voice. Hysterical

Chathappy · 29/07/2010 14:00

The film kidulthood makes me cringe...

abbreviation of 'appreciate'?

GetOrfMoiLand · 29/07/2010 14:16

I say random all the time.

It describes a lot of situations in life.

TrillianAstra · 29/07/2010 14:22

GetOrf do tell us about the extreme randomness of your life

Dizzydollybird · 29/07/2010 14:22

I picked up chillax from Family Guy - 'Chillax Mr Griffin' anyone?

I did used to say 'What you chatting' instead of what are you saying in my formative years until I realised how ridiculous and uncouth I sounded.

Now I can't bare any abbreviations or nonsense speak, I continually pull my mum up for text speak - I won't answer messages that say C U l8r m8, she's 58. . . and my mum ffs!

mayorquimby · 29/07/2010 14:25

not if you use it the way most people seem to use it these days.
In which case they use it to mean coincidence or most of the times something completely organised.
"oh we went to this pub randomly etc." "bumped into him randomly"

GetOrfMoiLand · 29/07/2010 14:34

Dunno, Trills, it's just that my, y'know, shoes are just, like, well random.

AlaskaNebraska · 29/07/2010 14:38

i remember being told to chillax by a kid in about 1999
its way old man

TrillianAstra · 29/07/2010 14:49

My shoes are pink and oddly creased. I bet they're more random than yours.

olderandwider · 29/07/2010 14:50

Is preesh a contraction of "I appreciate what you have done, my good fellow"?

olderandwider · 29/07/2010 14:51

Major * malfuntion there, but youze all catch my drift, innit?

olderandwider · 29/07/2010 14:51

jeez - malfunction. Time for my meds.

mayorquimby · 29/07/2010 14:54

"My shoes are pink and oddly creased. I bet they're more random than yours."

I'll bet there is a highly structured and logical timeline of events and decisions to explain the colour and state of your shoes.
Much like when people tell you about their night out in town when they went to the pub and then went to a nightclub before going home, such a random night.

TrillianAstra · 29/07/2010 14:58

They are quite new and I can see no logical reason for there to be creases in the shape they have appeared.

I want to hear how random GetOf's shoes are now...

GetOrfMoiLand · 29/07/2010 15:00

They have got studs all over them.

They look well gay.

mayorquimby · 29/07/2010 15:04

poor material and quality of work have lead to the creases. QED

Please don't flame me - i am not homophobic, it is just THE teenage insult.

PosieParker · 29/07/2010 15:08

I never use those type of words but I did love them in 'Gavin and Stacey'.

PosieParker · 29/07/2010 15:11

Everyone has a 'randoms' album on fb, very irritating. I always feel like writing a comment like you should have just called this album 'boasting' 'posing' 'boring' 'our only nice holiday' 'this isn't really my house'.
