to think that people shouldn't really have cats?

Now, just to make this clear, I am not a cat-hater. I'm rather fond of them.

However, given that they crap in other people's gardens, is it not a massively anti-social to have one?

Although if you have the kind which uses its litter tray exclusively fair enough.

cat shit can kill, actually.
if you catch toxoplasmosis during pregnancy you can lose your baby. fortunately is v.rare, but still...

the cats in our neighbourhood do all of their no1 and no2-s in our garden. plus they shag on our drive, and kill the birds in our garden. hence i am with the cat haters. we have waterguns at the ready, but this does not seem to deter them at all.

when ds1 and ds2 want to play out in the garden, we always need to de-poo it beforehand.

Quite. Hence why at 38 wks pregnant currently the husband has been doing all the gardening since the neighbour got her cat!

Acekicker · 17/07/2010 13:27

We're just starting to get loads of cat poo in our garden, I suspect due to at least some of the 5 cats our new neighbours have. I need to do something about it as I've got a 5 year old who runs around the garden barefoot a lot of the time.

Those of you who have said you wouldn't mind a neighbour raising it with you - what should I say? I know very little about cats...am I asking them to try to stop their cats doing it (how could they?) or should I just let them know that I'm going to start putting citrus down and if that doesn't work I'll be looking at getting some of the other sprays and things?

Good the they can read the thread and decide can't they?

If my cat causes anyone a uisance I will pay for and fot fencing or deterrnats as the wopner sees fit; if asked. It's my responsibility.

But I am sick to the death of picking up cats that have been inured, poisoned and half dead, or telling my kids why their cat won;t be coming abck (one poisoned, one driven over by a speeidng driver).

This thread is a real eye opener indeed.I myself am a cat and dog owner, big animal lover.I understand some people are not, but, what sort of person is it that would poison and cause wilful hurt to another creature is beyond belief.

MrsC2010 · 17/07/2010 16:39

Again, I don't think she was serious...people exagerate all the time on here don't they.

darkandstormy · 17/07/2010 17:57

No I wasn't referring to anyone on this thread at all, just the fact that some people do poison cats, really horrific imo.

darkandstormy · 17/07/2010 18:00

I mean't it with regards to SANCTIMOANY post
about finding injured, poisoned shot at etc.

MrsC2010 · 17/07/2010 22:50

I completely agree. When we were looking for our second dog (she is a rescued stray) we saw and read so many horrific things it really shook my faith in human nature.
