YANBU. I have two cats and they've got a spot in my garden which I keep dug over for them to use as a toilet. But a neighbours bloody cat keeps pooping on my front drive, it's gravel so it's not obvious till you tread in the stuff.

I got an ultrasonic deterrent which works brilliantly. It was £30 but worth it, it has a motion detector. Only problem is both I and DD can hear it! DH can't and pisses himself laughing when we go outside and it triggers and we both flinch and cover our ears.

Orange peel works well but you have to put LOTS down and it only works while it's 'fresh'.

Go for the super soaker, but be prepared for the cats to learn that it's only dangerous when you are there.

And howannoying I really hope you were joking

oneofthosedays · 12/07/2010 18:49

Water spray fine, poison, er no , that's pretty sick.

Once they're out of the house you can't keep an eye on what they're doing, how is this irresponsible? - the cats go wherever they like, how can you stop them doing this?!!

When I lived at home we had cats and next door had fucking loads of them, re regularly used to spray them with water to protect our cat's territory.

gerontius · 12/07/2010 18:50

Why wouldn't you like the neighbours to soak your cat Lauries?

2shoes · 12/07/2010 18:51

do it
dh keep some big syringes(thats what happens when you live in the sn world lol) full of water ready just for that purpose.

2shoes · 12/07/2010 18:53

poison is sick
my cat when I was a kid was poisoned by a neighbor, it was horrible.

SparklyJules · 12/07/2010 18:55

Do it. It's great fun.

PortiaNovmerriment · 12/07/2010 18:56

Air gun?

Hassled · 12/07/2010 18:57

Do it - it works, and I speak as a cat lover. I've told my neighbours to soak mine if they see them at it.

Oh yes I was deadly serious. Of course I advocate poisoning animals, especially in a garden where children play. Jesus people really need to lighten the fuck up.

What I am serious about is tossing the shit back over the fence. If I let my dogs shit all over someones garden it would be seen as decidedly un-neighbourly.

GeekOfTheWeek · 12/07/2010 19:15

Uzi?

jalopy · 12/07/2010 19:39

I gave my mother a rocket-launcher-of-a-water-gun some years ago to scare away cats and squirrels from her garden. It works wonders. She keeps it handy by the window.

Doigthebountyeater · 12/07/2010 19:40

I did this and now my neighbours are not speaking to me. Mind you they are awful and it largely worked with the cats so I say go for it!

gillybean2 · 12/07/2010 19:47

Do it

I got one of these and I told my neighbour I'd be using it. Only trouble is I sometimes forget it's on. But it's made a very big difference and well worth the occassoional time I've forgotten to turn it off before heading outside.

I wouldnt be offended if someone sprayed my cat for pooping in their garden - they would soon learn not to and it wouldn't do them any harm !

But I too don't understand how a cat owner can be 'irresponsible' (as a previous poster suggested) because their cat poops in someone else's garden?? How on earth do you track a cat 24/7 around other people's garden and stop them shitting in them?

But yes, understandably annoying.... spray away

DitaVonCheese · 12/07/2010 19:51

Do it

myeastdevonmaid · 01/01/2019 22:05

I spent hours digging over my new build flower bed and now the neighbours cat has filled it with s...t. I am putting down a repellent but it is so hypocritical that people who have dogs take trouble to pick up their mess but cat owners think its ok to let their animals mess anywhere as long as they don't have to bother with it. When is the law going to take cats owners to account! In the meantime my hands are chapped through washing them a thousand times in fear of infection.

My neighbours do Hmm I would be fine with someone supersoaking my cats, but I've noticed after we chucked water on the dogs they just only came in if they couldn't see us watching.

Suziepoozie · 01/01/2019 22:21

This thread is nine years old! Start a new one about cat poop!

mumsastudent · 01/01/2019 22:21

(useless information/suggestion - I read too much! :) ahem go to nearest zoo 8 request lion poo - put on boundaries (it was in old garden book)

Triskaidekaphilia · 01/01/2019 22:22

Oh wtf it was a zombie thread Angry

merlin777 · 25/08/2019 02:36

Can anyone recommend a good water pistol for this @? I have limited strength so something easy to use and preferably something you can leave loaded for speed of use.

Toneitdown · 25/08/2019 02:53

I have a darling little cat who I treat like a spoilt child, and of course she would NEVER poo in someone else's garden. But if she did... I really wouldn't care if you squirted her with a water pistol. It doesn't hurt her and it's not as if I can correct her behaviour myself because I'm not there. I really don't see the problem? Better than you having to clean up her shit every day and slowly build up a seething resentment towards me.

Durgasarrow · 25/08/2019 03:06

There's nothing wrong with supersoaking a cat. Cats go wherever they want when they're outside--the neighbors aren't being irresponsible if it's an outdoor cat, and you're not being nasty if you do whatever you can, within reason, to drive it away.

WhyBirdStop · 25/08/2019 04:55

I've got a cat and would recommend using water, a motion detected sprinkler or one on a timer works a treat , it doesn't harm the cat but they don't like it. I use one to keep our cat and others off my veg patch
