To wonder where the hell is my shopping and/or money?

Last night I checked my bank account online, £105.00 is the balance. Fine, I'll do an online shop at asda to arrive tomorrow.
Total shopping comes to £80.76.

Shopping does not arrive today and when I call to enquire why, I am told that there were insufficent funds in my account.

I then check online balance,£24.24 suggesting that between last night and now £80.76 has been debited.
Phoned bank to make enquiries and indeed Asda have taken the amount and bank gave me the authorisation number.I ask if it is possible that it is a pending payment, bank says no, as it has come off the balance then the payment has went through.

Phone Asda back, not helpful in the slightest, They say that they have not recieved the money, I tell them I have an authorisation code from my bank and an available balance which says otherwise. They say they will look into it and call me back at midday tomorrow.

So I now have only £24,Very little food, live in the back of beyond so no shops, will have to take two buses to a tesco tomorrow to see how far my £24 will stretch for baby food, milk and wipes.

Where is my money if it's not in my bank and Asda say they don't have it????

This is ridiculous.

twinsplus3 · 13/07/2010 09:18

Bumpety bump!

MarthaQuest · 13/07/2010 09:23

This happened to me a while ago with Tescos.

I could see that the money had left my bank account, but they KEPT ON bombarding me with aggressive phone calls to find out why my payments weren't going through.

Did not believe me when I said the funds had left my bank account

I complained and they offered free delivery and £16 voucher but I have not forgotten, especially as they kept on phoning, and leaving sarky sounding messages
during an important meeting I was having with DS' consultant.

gingernutlover · 13/07/2010 09:34

i was shocked by the cost of my online shop yesterday so spent half hour doing the same shop on4 different shops websites. Thankgoodness I didnt go with the asda option, since reading all this I wont ever shop with them online again.

Both sainburys and Tesco have alway always called me when there has been a problem with either delivery or payment. Sainsburys custiomer service has been excellent and whenever something has gone wrong (late del/items missing/broken) they have gone the extra mile to ensure I returned to them.

ASDA you really arent helping yourselves with your attitude towards this and your slowness to sort it out.

OMG

ASDAserviceTeam - glad to see that several hundred people reading about how shit you are has finally caused you to try to do something about this. It would be just super if you would provide the OP with her food today, but you realise that you need to change your systems, and publicly announce it, in order to restore the public's faith in you. There are an awful lot of people here who will never use ASDA home delivery again, and you had better believe that this thread will stay active until you fix the situation, allowaing plenty more people to see it!

HTH

mumofthreesweeties · 13/07/2010 09:43

ASDA are just awful arent they, that is the problem with being such a massive company - I reckon they dont really give two hoots about their customers. So sorry that they have treated you so shabbily. Any update?

I had the same problem with Tesco, they delivered my shopping three hours after the slot and the excuse they gave was that the driver was new and FEMALE...... When she eventually did arrive half my shopping was missing and they had given us fruit which was either shrivelled up or going off. We got a refund for the inconvenience etc but had to go out and buy the missing items. When I complained about the inconvenience they had the cheek to say 'well you got your refund didnt you Ms xxx.' Needless to say that was the last time I ever shopped with Tesco.

Moved over to Sainsburys and found the staff in my local branch terrible. On one ocassion one of them accused me of claiming free points for having my own bags when I didnt (@ express checkout). I was just gobsmacked, why on earth would I want to fraudulently claim some poxy points. She apologised for the mix up, but that was it - no more Sainsburys. Thank goodness for Waitrose.........I absolutely love them

LtEveDallas · 13/07/2010 09:47

Disgraceful conduct by ASDA - I'm another shopper that wont be using them again. Mind you, I was already decidedly unimpressed with the quality of their food which I believe is going downhill rapidly - probably so they can remain the "cheapest" option.

Think Id rather spend the extra (after all it is generally pennies) and get good quality.

I've been wanting a push to make me go back it Co-Op - this thread is it!

MarthaQuest · 13/07/2010 09:48

I heart Lidls at the moment.

The staff are surly and you have to pack your own shopping as they lob it through the checkout, but you know where you are with them.

snorris · 13/07/2010 09:49

My dh works for an Asda store that does home delivery and there is NO WAY I will ever use them. He often tells me about how rubbish they've been and in the past they've caused him hassle with his job . I've heard stories of defrosted goods being delivered because the refrigeration units are not working on the vans . Added to that AFAIK we can't get staff discount on deliveries, only in store .
Ocado all the way!! . (Actually Sainsburys round here are a close 2nd .)

Doodleydoo · 13/07/2010 09:50

Am lurking with interest and have been since yesterday!Good luck OP

PaulaMummyKnowsBest · 13/07/2010 09:50

stick with waitrose and ocado.... They are so helpful

I cannot beleive that ASDA have messed you about so badly.

Comewhinewithme · 13/07/2010 09:54

Don't forget Asda you have caused this woman 2 days of stress and worry you also owe her for phonecalls and her time.

What a shitty company.

Doodleydoo · 13/07/2010 09:55

have to admit am ocado shopper myself and am heavily pregnant, the last delivery was on a saturday evening and I was home alone with a small child about to go to bed, I opened the door, the driver asked me where I would like my shopping, asked if I wanted him to lift it to the work surface so I didn't have to later and then took all the heavy items and put them where I wanted them.

All the while smiling!

BTW, I know why they don't deliver so far north - at the moment ALL the deliveries are coming from their 1 depot! Hopefully they will open more depots with the money they get from floating so everyone will benefit - but hopefully they won't go down the lines of everyone else................

Fontella · 13/07/2010 10:19

I've often thought about trying home shopping, particularly as I've recently had to get rid of my car .. but this has put me right off.

I can get a bus from outside my front door and it stops immediately in front of Iceland. I go once a fortnight, do a massive shop (much cheaper than Tesco or Asda. They pack it all up for me, I jump back on the bus - home in 10 minutes and my shopping is never far behind - usually delivered within a couple of hours. Staff and driver couldn't be more helpful and even with the bus fare it saves me a fortune as Iceland do some fantastic deals and not just on frozen stuff.

For other bits it's the local Co-Op which is also a lovely store - fruit, veg and salads always top notch, bakery department etc, and Co-op do the best, cheapie red wine I've tasted .

If I did ever try home shopping I'd give Ocado a go, based on the comments I've read here.

Asda should be ashamed of themselves!

craftynclothy · 13/07/2010 10:24

Fontanella you're reminding me of my student days , stock up at Iceland every couple of weeks and call into the Co-op on the way home from uni for other stuff.

MisSalLaneous · 13/07/2010 10:35

Ok, this is now 10:30 for something that could be sorted in a 5 minute phone call. I wonder what the status is (and whether AsdaServiceTeam is for real?? )
