When I am sitting here in a cardigan contemplating putting the heating on for a couple of hours before bedtime?

The forecast for the rest of the week isn't much better.

Its only roasting in England (well it looks not bad in Wales I admit), we have a severe weather warning in Scotland for heavy rain tonight and we are into week 2 of the school holidays which have been spent mostly indoors sofar.

I don't get why we would need to get water from elsewhere. I know people who aren't home yetfrom last years floods.

tethersend · 10/07/2010 23:05

Can I just clarify- is Britain still broken?

Because we could be living in Broken Baking Britain.

SlackSally · 10/07/2010 23:08

The BBC weather forecast spends ages on NI, and begins with it.

Also, I do get what you mean about being 'ignored' by the powers that be (I'm in the South but not London), BUT England does account for over half the physical area of Britain and a similar proportion of the population.

kittywise · 10/07/2010 23:10

God my garden is mostly dead from weeks and weeks of no rain. I want rain. I think I am living in the wrong place.

We moved back home to our house on 31st May having been flooded out in September last year. It's raining again and we've contemplated putting the heating on, but I refuse to do so in July!!!
YANBU

SwansEatQuince · 10/07/2010 23:30

Our heating is on, so are the long johns, woolly jumpers and wellies.

I wonder how most of lower 'Britain' would feel if the BBC weather began with a flood warning tomorrow?

Quality · 11/07/2010 00:49

Wales looks not bad? I am in south wales and am only mning because the rain is so loud i can't sleep!

Scaredofthedark · 11/07/2010 00:56

Bloody gale force winds and torrential rain here. July?? More like November!

Horrid weather here in Scotland.

....
can't believe its July!

finally fell asleep to the sound of welsh rain, and have woken up to brilliant blue skies and perfectly dry roads, was I dreaming?

MmeRedWhiteandBlueberry · 11/07/2010 08:12

I wish we had rain, and cooler temperatures.

I have had to turn my A/C on and have no lawn left.

Morloth · 11/07/2010 10:06

It was delicious yesterday, about 30 where we are, lovely spring day.

ApocalypseCheese · 11/07/2010 10:14

Still lovely and cold here

Maisiethemorningsidecat · 11/07/2010 10:27

Cold here again today - perhaps this week the BBC weather will redress the balance and begin with Freezing Britain, followed by a short nod to the high temperatures in the south and southeast of England. Anyone care to place a bet?!

Nancy66 · 11/07/2010 10:29

I think it's just taken as read that it's NEVER hot is Scotland....

Maisiethemorningsidecat · 11/07/2010 10:37

Not true Nancy - the rest of the UK just doesn't hear about it. On the other hand, we all know exactly what's going on the the SE..

wigglybeezer · 11/07/2010 10:53

Yes we had lovely weather for a few weeks, right until the school holidays started...sigh.

In fact this is the third year in a row that July has been rubbish up here, it spoils our early school holiday, quiet holiday attractions/campsite advantage and removes an opportunity for enjoyable smuggery.

YANBU. There are other places apart from London. And I wish they wouldn't always relate the forecast to that day's sporting event.

lovechoc · 11/07/2010 11:28

I'm getting annoyed too about hearng of 'heatwaves' - it's blustery winds here with showers of rain on and off. no heatwave where I live!!

Letz · 11/07/2010 11:41

Yes. I'm usually in Tokyo during the summers. 29 degrees isn't hot...try going about your day when it's 39 degrees with relative humidity at 90 percent..THAT'S hot. This is like heaven to me

I'm in Scotland and I WILL be baking this afternoon - there's nothing much better to with these miserable downpours than stay inside and bake cake
