Petition for piriton syrup in sachets!

MsCRobinson · 24/02/2010 14:00

I have created a petition to lobby GlaxoSmithKline to produce Piriton syrup in 5 ml sachets. Despite numerous appeals over many years from individuals and anaphylaxis.org.uk, their responses such as 'there isn't the demand' to 'we may consider it if enough people ask' are wearing thin.
If you would like to see piriton in sachets plz sign the petition which I will be sending to them once we have lots and LOTS of signatures.
Many Thanks.

Done. My dd aged 3 took an unexplained allergic reaction recently. It was very scary and have no idea what caused it so it could happen again. Being able to carry these sachets everywhere would be much easier that carrying a bottle everywhere.

Done a great idea thanks. I'm sick of having a sticky bottle in my bag and the piriton bottle seems prone to leaks.

The issue is when the drug testing was done it was in plastic bottles. To put it now into sachets the drug would have to be retested in the different packaging medium to ensure no altering or breakdown of the drug structure took place. That is obviously expensive.

I am in full support of this petition but be aware this is an argument they will throw back. The extra trial expense to us allergy parents is insignificant, it's having the Pharma giants take notice is the battle.

I know this is not helpful but perhaps it can drive us on to recruit more and more people to sign the petiton to drive the message home. Shame there is not a generic competitor that could test now in sachets ahead of launching the drug to market. That would put them in their place for sure.

I recently had to administer epi-pen for my daughter, we had to give her adults one daily puritan tablet. I had left my bottle of puritan in my hotel room bothered I had the sachets available I would have been carrying a few with me which would have been more fast absorbed into my daughters blood stream. I have searched all over for sachets and can't find anything. SO please add my to this thread. Kind regards, N

I must be the only one against this idea on recycling grounds. I would rather see most sachet packaging being banned all together alongside wet wipes of all kinds and miniature cosmetic products.
Feel free to have a go but I’m standing by my opinion.
This type of packaging is driven by convenience for the consumer (and I totally agree, there are instances when it is really annoying having to carry around a large bottle/box, potential for drips etc, but most liquids can be decanted) and also by marketing.
And do we really need to have so many travel size items for sale in Boots and at supermarkets. And there is no need for the complimentary long haul flight miniatures offered by airlines. I could go on and on...
