What could my DD be allergic to in soup?

I have recently given my DD (nearly 3 years) Asda Chunky chicken and Vegetable soup and she has come up with a red blotchy rash around her mouth. I gave it her twice to be sure and the second time it happened again.

I have today given her a Baxters Vegetable soup and the same thing has happened again but worse. Her lips started to swell and her neck also went red and she was itching it. She also started itching the eczema on her wrist (not sure if this is a coincidence?).

I think she may be allergic to eggs in their pure form and in mayonnaise as the same thing happens if she has mayonnaise but there is no egg in the ingredients.

She seems fine in herself and the rash disappears after 10 mins or so but I cannot figure out what the allergy may be to? I think it is quite mild so wasn't going to make an appt for her to see the GP about it but just mention whenever I next took her but this may well be a good few months?

Has anyone had anything similar? Is there anything you can see in the ingredients that it may be? ( I am probably missing something obvious!)

Just posting to say that swollen lips and red itching neck are extremely severe symptoms, NOT "quite mild" symptoms. My DS has an epipen and instructions are to use it for symptoms like these.

Please don't give her either of these soups again just to be sure as you did last time (although I can understand why you did). You have seen that the allergy has got significantly worse with each exposure, next time it could be an ambulance job or worse.

Onions?

Peas are related to peanuts and yes you should try to get an allergy referral.

I won't be giving her the soup again. I didn't realise the symptoms were extremely severe Shock, I feel awful now just because she was fine in her self and demanding her colouring books after tea I thought she was fine. I've just had to go and check on her again and make sure she is ok as I've got myself all worked up now. I woke her up - she is fine!

I'll make sure I get some liquid piriton tomorrow and also a GP appointment for a referral.

Sorry one more question - if it is a rapeseed oil allergy do I need to avoid giving her anything which contains vegetable oil then in case it is rapeseed oil?

Thanks for your help Smile

yes, veg oil is a mixed oil containing any cheap oil the manufacturer can get hold of.

The yeast would be a problem for me esp if brewers yeast.

I notice the soup contains Lentils- it could be an allergy to lentils. A friend of mine had a similar problem with her son when he started school. Allergic reaction after school lunch- couldn't work out what it was and then they used lentils in class to make pictures and he had the same reaction.
