A friend of mine took her Dd to a homeopath and she went from being badly affected from head to toe to being completely clear...might be worth a try if you haven't already.

I hope you find an answer for your Ds.

No, it was in Scotland actually; but perhaps someone can recommend a homeopath in the London area. I do think that recommendation is key. Good luck to you anyway.

Thanks again solo. I was hoping that some other mums would respond but no one else has done so far. Will definitely try homeopath.

Hi I feel your pain here, my DS was really bad especially the weeping cheeks as they looked like he had been burnt :( This was from about 6 weeks until just under 2 during which time he was allergy tested, on a lot of different creams and restriced diet.

The only thing that eventually cleared his up was a lot of persistence to be sent to a skin specialist and eventually sterid creams which seemed to help although a bit drastic and washing only with Aqueious cream.

Now he is 4 and you would hardly know there had ever been anything there, occassionally he gets the odd breakout on his body but it is nothing like it was before!

I also stopped using any sort of laundry detergent about a month ago switching to soap nuts and this has improved both of our eczema prone skins amazingly!

You could also try using natural toiletries where possible, I have now switched to goats milk and honey soap which is inexpensive and leaves our skin and rash free.

It really is just a case of trial and error but eventually it will subside a bit so just do what you can and try not to worry too much.

Soap nuts
Natural soap

I feel your pain sagarika, my ds was very similar to your poor ds. As everyone says it's trial and error unfortunately, we found limiting bathing helped and I've never used soap or any sort of bath wash just water. I switched to Filetti powder and everything gets and extra rinse. I found Allergenics cream good for his face (you can get it on prescription) but it didn't work on his body. We use an emollient called Ungentum M that I've found good. From the age of about 11 months we were given Comfi Fast suits which helped stop damage from scratching and helped the cream absorb. Higher strength steriods seemed better in short doses rather than constant lower strength.

DS started to grow out of it just before he turned 4 and is now almost clear. I never thought it would happen but it has so have hope. He has severe food allergies still but his system seems so much stronger. Good luck and keep trying, I can't say anything really worked for us except time which probably isn't much help to you at the moment.

Poor little fellow, was he given A.B.'s at birth? if not homeopathy cured my D.S. also using pure water softeners in his warm bath water (esp. if you're in a hard water area) helped a lot I moisturised him with olive oil before and after bathing.

I've just read a book called Vital Oils by liz Earle and she talks about Gamma Linoleic Acids which have been shown to be absent in a lot of eczema cases, you could take Starflower\borage oil and add it to his diet as well.

I just posted about our extensive trial and error here www.mumsnet.com/Talk/allergies/1164053-Anyones-DC-had-problems-with-Dermol-stinging

We got to the point where I was desperate. I paid a lot to see Dr. Atherton at Great Ormond St after seeing him referenced on other eczema threads, I've just come home with a new set of medication and lots of confusion cleared up (see other post), I had seen previously been referred to a dermatologist by my GP and at the appointment saw an eczema nurse. I got some good advice but the precriptions hadn't worked after two weeks and I didn't want to watch baby suffer any more so I just bit the bullet and paid to see the best I could find. There's an awful lot of misinformation out there, if you and baby are suffering I'd say go see him. It cost us £230 for the consultation and another £130 for the prescription. It's a hell of a lot but I'm fairly sure I've spent nearly that on a shelf full of miracle creams trying to ease baby's cheeks.

In Glagow we have an homeopathic clinic run by the NHS , its usually a bit of a waiting list unless severe cases. but give it a try if your near in Scotland ... its at Gartnavel hospital grounds... also ditch all your smelly soap powders thats no 1. and no fabric conditoners as these are lethal to all not just skin sufferers.. dont use any perfumes near the child at all.. or cleaners that they will be exposed to.. even carpet cleaners. Scotchguard on furniture too is a no no... very hazardous stuff.. and stop using any perfumed creams. lotions , oils. shampoos and soap.. it all has to change to see changes... hope this helps....
