Ive drank nearly every day for the last 10 years and it was starting to get out of hand
I do like a drink so I’m not sure I want to quit forever but I don’t want to be drinking like I was ever again
My first goal is 28 days without a drink
Be lovely to have a bit of help, keep me strong etc

Amazing op you are doing brilliantly remember just one day at a time! I've been dry a long time and love zero percent peroni and nozecco here and there at the weekends x

Cupboarddoorknob · 12/02/2026 11:33

Nearly at 3 weeks OP! I promise it does get easier!

mothertrucking · 12/02/2026 21:08

Keep at it OP. I'm on day 6 and could quite easily cave tonight. I've almost finished my course of antibiotics and am feeling better. I can have alcohol while taking them but I'm really trying to avoid it, DH has just poured himself a Vodka and I am so tempted to ask him to get me one!

That’s how I was feeling a couple of days ago, so glad I didn’t cave. I was so pleased with myself the next day. I had a goodrays drink, which possibly helped
18 days and I slept a bit better last night, but when does this having to get up twice in the night for a wee stop!?!

19 days, picked up some pentire drinks and the bottle green sparkling grapefruit when I went shopping along with a non alcoholic fizz and a non alcoholic red wine for tomorrow
Feeling strong today, my face looks less puffy and feels so much better, no dry or greasy patches

Really pleased for you @Japanesejazz
i wonder did you try the Tanquerey Orange 0% gin with a good tonic yet? I recommended it earlier down the thread. I've had quite a stressful start to the year (who hasn't!) and I've stuck with this and it's been great!!

Good luck and keep going! X

Japanesejazz · 14/02/2026 23:48

Thank you, I bought a zero ordinary tanquaray but will definitely buy the orange one next time if I can find one
Well done you, I am loving the mornings without feeling ugh!

So proud of u

Musicaltheatremum · 15/02/2026 09:07

@Japanesejazz how did you get on with the non alcoholic wine. I hated it. I tried freixenet sparkling which is much better than nosecco. But great things and well done. You're at the 3 week mark now which is when new habits become embedded.

Japanesejazz · 15/02/2026 10:48

I had a bottle of red Zeno, which is about the best red I have tried. But I would have been just as happy with a glass of red grape juice, as long as it was in a wine glass!
My favourite sparkling one so far is the Waitrose sparkling Chardonnay.

Well done OP!

Hi there OP- I have been lurking on your thread. Partly inspired by you, I stopped drinking on Feb 1 and am similar to you in that I have had a very hard time in recent years and never drank a huge amount, but it was getting close to every day for me. I just wanted to thank you, because I am really glad I did this, and you helped me!

24 days, tried one of the Pentire drinks this evening. Really enjoyed it, there’s been some great recommendations for alcohol free drinks on the thread
Thank you everyone, I have tried lots of new things

I thought of you yesterday and wondered how you were getting on asi realised that the night before I’d had a crap day at work and was in on my own and that would normally in the past have been a trigger to have a couple of glasses of wine in front of the telly. I hadn’t even thought of it though and had just drunk tea, gone to bed and woken up early and fine.

Japanesejazz · 19/02/2026 23:18

25 days, was very tempted to have a drink this evening, managed to resist
Really like the Bottlegreen grapefruit presse, it’s a very nice pink fizz
Feeling so tired, my sleep has actually been worse without alcohol, and tiredness I have realised is a trigger for me

Well done- you are doing so well and should be really pleased. Sorry to hear about your sleep. I use Nutrition Geeks Magensium for sleep and find it really helps

Alcohol is a sedative. So lots of people mistake its sedative effects for better sleep but in reality it’s disrupted sedation not proper sleep. Eventually your body will reset itself and sleep well again.

Nutmuncher · 21/02/2026 11:50

Brilliant OP! Well done, saving on the calories, the money, the energy, the time wasted feeling bleugh. Are you taking a good multivitamin?

123123again · 14/03/2026 21:45

How are you doing Op ( and other quitters)

I’m doing Lent, so day 25. I’ve been in the zone. Gone from obsessively drinking mist nights to not being that bothered. Not sure how actually or why if it’s this easy, I don’t have more control over it when I do drink.

Probably jinxed it now and I’ll be desperate for the next two weeks.
