@BulldogMumma I nearly spat my coffee out this morning when I saw the OP had posted! You are very welcome back. Your experience is similar to mine in previous years. This is the longest I’ve had a straight run alcohol free in many years.
Yesterday marked the first 6 months of 2025 dry. Pretty incredible!

BulldogMumma · 02/07/2025 07:03

@ThriveIn2025im glad I’m still remembered on here it’s been that long 😂.

Hi @BulldogMumma great to have you back!! I did similarly & have been back af since mid May!

Had one nights unnecessary blip about 5 weeks in which reminded me old habits like to kick on the way out again but other than that am enjoying being af again!!

@AuraBora sorry realised I completely missed a q from you!! But yes all going well thank you!!!

really glad I’m not drinking tbh while it’s this hot 🌞 as the sun always made me want to drink but then perimenopause plus alcohol plus external heat would make feel like I was boiling alive 🤣

hope everyone enjoying some nice chilled af drinks!!!

ThriveIn2025 · 12/07/2025 09:38

How is everyone doing? I’m about to hit 200 days next week. Can’t quite believe I’ve managed it this time. Very little desire to drink. In fact I went out last night to a Weatherspoons and just hated it. They have a decent AF menu but it was the drunk people banging into the table and falling all over the place that had me on edge. The journey home was just as bad. One guy did something at the top of the escalator that caused an older lady to fall and people screamed and someone had to hit the emergency button. It was quite frightening and although I don’t know if alcohol was involved, given it was 10.30pm on a Friday evening, it’s likely.

Very glad to have got home safely and got into bed without the world spinning.

Seahorsesplendour · 12/07/2025 19:56

@ThriveIn2025 all good here thank you!!

apart from being hot hot hot!!! 😂

loving it really!!! Just off to watet the garden in the hope it’s a bit cooler out there!!!

hope everyone has a good af sat night!!!

ThriveIn2025 · 28/08/2025 08:35

Hi everyone! Is anyone else still dry? I am. I don’t know how I have done it over the summer holidays, but I did. Felt a lot like an endurance challenge 😆
I have my eye on 250 days! That’s coming up soon.

@TimeForNosecco @BulldogMumma @Seahorsesplendour @AuraBora how are you?!

@ThriveIn2025
That is absolutely amazing - you should be soon proud of yourself.
I'm sorry to have not been on here for so long. I fell off the wagon on holiday in August (drank everyday of the 2 week holiday although I will say I drank considerably less and more mindfully than I was doing before)
However I've found it hard to get back on.. and I really need to. Weight has crept back on and I feel all the same old effects of regular drinking that pushed me to quit in the first place.
I'm gearing up to stop again this weekend. But I know it's going to be hard.

AuraBora · 04/09/2025 21:11

@BulldogMumma hope it's going well. It's good to see you back on the thread.
If anyone else has fallen off the wagon and wants to get back on - let's go!

AuraBora · 04/09/2025 22:02

Just to clarify - I 'stopped' again a week ago but have had a couple of drinks - so gearing up to stop completely! @Thrive I need your recipe for success! :)

AuraBora · 04/09/2025 22:10

Me again.. I just had to share this image of today's NY times Spelling Bee. What is the first word you see there?!

(I started Wordle and Spelling Bee as part of my nightly non-drinking activities...!)

ALCOHOL 🫣

Hi @AuraBora nice to hear from you. I’ll be honest the last 2 weeks of the summer holidays I thought about a big cold glass of white wine a lot 😬 The only thing that stopped me was the shame of having to admit to people I was drinking again.

I totally get drinking on a holiday though. The feeling of missing out when dry is real. Plus I remember the fun times and conveniently ignore the fact alcohol was slowly killing me. Sounds dramatic but I genuinely believe my body had had enough.

So I don’t really have any tips as such. I just remind myself of my ‘whys’ when I feel tempted and get busy doing something else. Good luck!!!

Seahorsesplendour · 05/09/2025 19:43

Another one here that succumbed to holiday drinking!! 🙈 on the plus side it was a fraction of what I would normally have had and no issues stopping again on return home!!!

I can’t believe it’s September!!!!! Dry Jan next year will be here before we know it!!! 🤣😂🤣

Seahorsesplendour · 01/01/2026 00:30

Well I wasn’t wrong guys! It’s here already!!!

thought about starting a new thread but you guys were all so supportive last year I thought I’d hop on and see if anyone still around and joining the fray again this year???

I drank a lot less overall this year than last year!

hoping to continue the downward trend this year!!!

happy new year to you all !!

Fundays12 · 01/01/2026 08:15

Well done this is day 1 0f DJ for month. I haven't had an overall heavy drinking Christmas thankfully but still fat, bloated and lousy.

Miloarmadillo2 · 01/01/2026 10:21

Hi all - I’m back for another go. We slid back into the old habit of winter evenings means sharing a bottle of wine far too often. 2025 just felt like a long old slog of a year. My liver will thank me for a break.

Hedjwitch · 01/01/2026 14:56

I think a new Thread marked 2026 would be good and perhaps encourage some newbies?

AuraBora · 01/01/2026 20:12

Hi folks,
I'm back for another go at this in 2026. After a dry 7 months I never really got back on the wagon properly after holiday in August - although did cut down and overall drank considerably less in 2025 than previous years.
Hope to hear everyone's updates somewhere on here, am checking out all the threads!
