Thanks for new thread. Still here day 16.

Destiny33 · 16/01/2025 17:04

Thanks for new thread. Still on track and grateful for daily inspiration 💜

Flicitytricity · 16/01/2025 17:10

Thanks @BulldogMumma - here till the end now😁

@Benny33 honestly, do NOT give up just because of one slip - it really doesn't matter in the overall scheme of things, just don't let it be your excuse to give up!
Stop and count up how many drinks you haven't had xx

TimeForNosecco · 16/01/2025 17:20

Thanks for the new thread day 16 almost done! 🙌🏻

SatinHeart · 16/01/2025 17:24

Thanks for the new thread, just hopping on board to mark my place and say I'm still going strong on day 16 😊

Deedippy · 16/01/2025 17:26

Marking place. Day 13 here and all feeling good at the moment. Awful headache today though

Limeandsoda2023 · 16/01/2025 17:57

Thanks for new thread. I’m going strong on day 15 for me. My DD’s parents evening tonight so definitely no temptation to drink!

Fundays12 · 16/01/2025 18:07

Day 19 is going to be tough tonight. My oldest has autism/ ADHD and quite complex support needs. He has got himself into bother in school today and is now in a horrible mood tonight.

BookShark · 16/01/2025 18:21

Joining the new thread. Still going, although still battling temptation at times. It's the fact I "can't" have a drink which is making me want one! Anyway, I have cakes to cook for a school cake sale tomorrow, so at least that's a distraction for this evening.

BulldogMumma · 16/01/2025 19:10

Day 16 almost done!
I can relate to the boredom tonight, I won't drink but tonight just feel a bit meh!
I've just seen on the news about how more and more people are going sober, there's a programme on ITV tonight at 8.30 so I'll give that a watch

OP posts:
BulldogMumma · 16/01/2025 19:11

A programme about going sober that should say

Cunningfungus · 16/01/2025 19:26

Hi all. New to the thread but also on Day 16. I’ve had some serious issues with alcohol the past few years (blackouts, no off switch etc) so DJ is my way of getting me into a sober way of life. Had major cravings on the way home from work today and nearly went into the off licence - but I read through all the motivational quotes on my phone and I’m now on the sofa with a tonic water and the danger has passed.

Keep going everyone - will be so worth it!

TonstantWeader · 16/01/2025 19:28

evening everyone and what a lovely shiny new thread @BulldogMumma! Still going and Day 16 done, and a trip to the cinema sorted for tomorrow evening to avoid the wine witch on Friday night. @Benny33, pick yourself up and dust yourself off and keep on going. @BookShark I know exactly what you mean about things becoming more attractive the more 'forbidden' they are, but I'm also incredibly stubborn, and am determined to prove to myself I can get through the entire month. DH has already had a couple of nights off and probably will over the weekend, but away from the house and out with his work colleagues/mates, so it's not in my face and doesn't bother me.

And once this weekend is down there's just one more to do. Nearly there!

Littletinytarzanswingingfromanosehair · 16/01/2025 19:47

Day 22. I can almost feel a slip coming on. I had a meeting today with my tutor as I am so far behind on my course work. Thanks to pneumonia and pressured work commitments. I have 5 assignments to do in 7days.
And I'm getting a warning for it for breaching the policy.
I could curl up and cry.

coastergirl · 16/01/2025 19:52

I'm struggling tonight! Almost feel like it's safer to cave tonight as I have the kids here so probably wouldn't overdo it.

TonstantWeader · 16/01/2025 19:56

Deep breaths, @Littletinytarzanswingingfromanosehair . You can do this. As well as talking to your tutor, can you talk to student support and/or the Students' Union? Can you look at extensions for some of the assignments based on medical grounds, or is there an option for suspending your studies? Usually these are all possible options so hang on in there. Sending you good vibes.

Sammy900 · 16/01/2025 20:01

@Littletinytarzanswingingfromanosehair oooh that sounds horrific - reminds me of my student days when I used to cram everything in last minute then not eat or sleep and exhaust myself until it was done - yikes deep breaths just start early tomorrow and pick the first one up

Cone on people feels like we are collectively having a mid month dip! Don’t cave keep strong!!

I was also thinking today ..I wonder how healthy my liver is now, I wonder how I’ve helped it in 16 days 🙂

Seahorsesplendour · 16/01/2025 20:01

Checking in to the new thread thsnks @BulldogMumma

@coastergirl if you do there’ll be no judgement here - but how will you feel? Can you distract yourself for a bit & see if it passes? Maybe reading some of your earlier messages might help remind you how you felt before? I know you can do it but I equally know how loud that wine witch or beer bogeyman can be!!! Sending hugs

Sammy900 · 16/01/2025 20:03

The wine witch gets louder sometimes- but don’t let her boss you around.

soberserene · 16/01/2025 20:09

Checking in for day 17 of no drinking and day three of headaches.

I'm getting a bit restless at having two more weeks to go, even though my cravings aren't particularly strong. What's that about?

Littletinytarzanswingingfromanosehair · 16/01/2025 20:17

I am tempted to see if I can speak to the student union.
The course is for my workplace and there is not way I couldn't not have got involved with the project. It's been a huge project and my input was needed. I'm half way through one after working on it for 7hrs today. I've just been to the shop for Ben and Jerrys, haribo and chocolate to get me through.

BulldogMumma · 16/01/2025 20:36

Is anyone watching the programme on itv about drinking?

OP posts:
Buntyforgirls · 16/01/2025 20:45

@Littletinytarzanswingingfromanosehair ,good luck, sounds like you're motivated, and def ask for any available support.
Thank you for the new thread@BulldogMumma . I will catch-up with that tomorrow if you recommend. Feels like drinking might well go the way of smoking.
Day 16, and all going well.So well that I don't know why I would want to drink again. Things can change so swiftly though - one bad day, one good day, one sunny day, one snowy day...

Flicitytricity · 16/01/2025 20:59

BulldogMumma · 16/01/2025 20:36

Yes.
Really sobering ( no pun intended), but great news about the younger generation being more responsible.
