100 Day AF challenge

3GreenPullups · 28/08/2021 10:10

Morning all.

Would anyone like to join me in a 100 day challenge? I did one afew years back, and since then my drinking has crept up and up and in lockdown has gone mad. I'd like to do another challenge, with the aim of continuining on, but 100 days will do for starters.

I am also hopoing to lose weight, but mainly I am sick of feeling this way (and I am SO grumpy!)

Morning FrugalFanny well done for all the exercise you've done!! I'm such a saddo I binged watched Marie kondo inspired me to clear out crap so keeping myself busy!! I couldn't sleep either listened to my meditation podcast, I just have to get some nice juice in for the weekend 😜 check me out living the dream 😂

Summertime2 · 03/09/2021 12:54

I'm back and on day 2. Got a wedding this weekend which I think will be more trial than fun but feeling deterimined...

FrugalFanny · 04/09/2021 10:15

I spectacularly fell off the wagon last night, but I feel fully vindicated and am climbing back on it again and restarting. So it's day one for me as from today 4th September.

After a terrible night's sleep on Thursday/Friday morning, I woke up at the crack of dawn to loads of noise outside my window. Looked out to see a removal van. My next door neighbour (from hell) was moving out! The comings and goings and noise went on all day, and by evening my nerves were jangling. Then I bumped into another neighbour and she ended up coming round to 'celebrate' the fact that our horrible neighbour was going.

She brought wine. It would have been impolite for me not to drink it, particularly on such a momentous day.

So I'm restarting and am as committed as ever. No more excuses after this I promise!

madmumofteens · 04/09/2021 15:33

Oh Frugal I don't blame you having a celebration definitely just cause! Well I just spectacularly slipped getting into the bath and could certainly do with something to ease the pain got such a fright 😳 anyhow today is a new day I've been sticking to it so far been clearing out all my sons booze he has left over gonna box it up to take to his flat next weekend! Have a good weekend everyone

FrugalFanny · 05/09/2021 13:36

Thread seems to have gone very quiet.

Well it's day two alcohol free and I still have a hangover. Why on earth do we drink?

I feel jittery, tearful, a dull headache that paracetamol won't shift and generally rough. The sun is shining, it's a beautiful day and I feel like shit. This is from wine on Friday night. Why oh why do we do it?

Summertime2 · 05/09/2021 14:32

I know that feeling of the second day of hangover! Utterly grim. I'm on Day 4 now. Made it through a wedding which was actually ok. Onwards!

madmumofteens · 05/09/2021 17:21

Oh Frugal last Friday did that to me too then ate so much crap Saturday and Sunday to try and feel better!! Just had roast dinner without our usual bottle of red wine on day 9 keep going xx

3GreenPullups · 06/09/2021 07:51

Morning all. Fell off my own thread. Blush

day 2. I simply have to do this now. I went to a funeral on Friday- o someone who died from alcoholism. Loads of booze at the wake and it tipped me over. How crazy.

Thanks everyone.

Don't beat yourself up Green, it happens.

Well it's day 3 for me and I still feel rough after Friday night's blow out. I probably drank somewhere between a bottle and a half and a bottle and three quarters of wine over the course of several hours, but I think the problem is I fell into bed without doing my usual drinking gallons of water routine to mitigate the effects.

So here I am still on Monday morning feeling distinctly green around the gills. Still got that slight muzzy headache, and just generally off colour.

madmum you are so right about eating crap the days after. That's because our liver has used up all its glycogen stores to metabolise the alcohol so now it needs replenishing. Glycogen comes from carbs so that's why we crave bread, sweets, ice cream, sweet fizzy drinks etc. We also crave salt because of the dehydration, so crisps, peanuts, salty stuff.

Anyway all we can do is keep on trying. I've got no booze in the house and I won't be buying any in the foreseeable.

Let's do this! (who said that?) Grin

madmumofteens · 06/09/2021 12:22

Oh Green don't beat yourself up reset and start again it will be worth it in the end 😊 Aha Frugal that make perfect sense why do we do it to ourselves!! Have a good week everyone just keep going on 🥰

clara443 · 07/09/2021 08:10

I'd like to sign up please. I really need to stop drinking. I went 66 days last winter and felt great.
Day one, i've just poured the left over wine down the sink.

madmumofteens · 07/09/2021 08:50

Morning all and welcome Clara

Day 4 for me and I'm only just now starting to feel better after the effects of Friday night's binge.

Had a busy and productive day yesterday, and hoping for the same today. Making the most of the gorgeous weather also. So nice to have this now after such a shitty Summer.

3GreenPullups · 07/09/2021 14:42

You sound bright and in the zone @FrugalFanny !

Gorgeous weather here as well. I am well stuck into dry ginger ale. :)

Day 7 for me and feeling good!

My son's girlfriend is coming over tonight for my daughter to cut her hair. This would usually involve her bringing a bottle of wine for me and beers for them. I have told my son to tell her not to bring any wine. Beer I can resist as I don't like it.

They also asked if I wanted to go in on a takeaway and I declined. I'm on the 18 weeks to Christmas weight loss thread as well.

Feeling very Halo

madmumofteens · 10/09/2021 15:18

Day 14 for me as since stopped on Friday 27th maths not my strong point obviously lol!! Well done Frugal and 3Green weekends are the hardest aren't they!! Have a good weekend 😘

41stars · 11/09/2021 10:08

Can I join in??

I've been doing the 30 day alcohol experiment and I'm on day 8, I'm dying, my head is thumping, I feel tired, sluggish, absolutely awful, I've gained weight. When does it get better?

I was drinking about 2 bottles of wine a day and could fully function the next day, yes with a headache but not as bad as this.

I'm begging to think I shouldn't have bothered. Confused

Tell me it gets better!!
