Anyone giving up alcohol for Lent?

I tried dry January, I definitely cut back a lot but wasn't completely dry. Then it seems to have creeped up a bit over the past couple of weeks. I feel like I need to show myself I can actually do this!

I'm doing couch to 5k and should hopefully complete it around Easter time, so think I'll see if I could give up alcohol for that period as well. And hopefully see benefits from both.

I'm not entirely sure I can do it, but I'm going to give it a go. Anyone with me?

So I did decide to have a couple of glasses of wine tonight. It was a lovely sunny day, a bank holiday weekend, lent was pretty much over and I was happy that I had achieved over 6 weeks off the booze.

Well I wish I hadn't bothered. I've been feeling pretty exhausted in the evenings recently anyway (think it's maybe due to my vaccination) and the wine just made me feel worse. Feeling absolutely knackered now and I poured most of the rest of my glass down the sink and have gone to bed. Haven't had enough to make me feel rough tomorrow thankfully.

Think I'll be going back off the alcohol again, or at least only having the occasional glass. Alcohol definitely doesn't do anything for me!

@wintertime6 I felt exhausted after my CV19 jab too. Lasted a fortnight!

Successfully resisted opening up the v expensive wine I bought for Sunday lunch, yesterday evening. Was going to have a glass with lunch but have a cold so might stick to pop!

Brill whatisforteamum I would hate to be on my own here 😉 Must look up that drink aware app sounds good 👍 don’t think I’d be able to stick to a single drink. But not planning on AF for ever just not today

Count me in for the rest of April. I did have a few drinks over the bank holiday weekend, not a massive amount, but it has just left me feeling tired and not as with it the next day. My resting heart rate has also gone up by 5 beats per minute over the weekend!

With Lent, I found it good that I had already made the decision not to drink until Easter. It stopped that nightly conversation in my head about whether or not to have a drink.

So I'm making the decision to stay off it again until the end of April, another 3 and a half weeks.

A big thank you for the support during Lent, everybody!
Have drunk during Easter, mainly to take the edge of feeling poorly, of all things. and pondering next steps... definitely do not want to return to old habits but moderation is bit scary in case it is the start of the slippery slope.
Still, very proud to have succeeded for Lent- who would have thought!
Good luck to us all on our journeys.

End of April sounds like a new plan @wintertime6 hopefully lockdown will start to ease a bit by then and we will have more things to occupy us than drinking the nights away
