AIBU to be rather 😡 that the University of Nottingham is advertising a senior leadership post (Director of Student Recruitment and Admissions) with a top end salary range at a whopping 138k when the previous incumbent left with a VR payment in October? Makes no sense.

Isn't that against any sort of legal stuff around redundancy? I thought the whole point about redundancy was that the post/role was no longer needed for the business. VR really should be called something else.

We’ve had similar at our place. People left with pay offs under VR, gap of a few months and then adverts out for same grade, same dept, very slightly different job title but same responsibilities (from what I can see).

anyway we are gearing up for another round of redundancies (currently voluntary), think it’s our 3rd one? Amazed there’s anyone left to get rid of to be honest.

So did I! I am not sure how they are getting away with it.

Because they change the job title and tweak the role.
