Arfternoon.

No bleddy snow here either wotz.

We had a bit of a fall last night, which kind of stuck and froze overnight but has pretty much disappeared and now we have bright sunshine.

The woman with the flappy trappy does some voluntary work for a dog rescue centre and was telling us all about a poor old collie that needs a home.

I told her we'd have it.

She's arriving here at 6 o'clock with the dog in tow.

I couldn't say no.

mummylin2495 · 06/02/2009 13:56

ah that is lovely of you tnog.it has just restarted here again ,but its only tiny flakes ,had loads this morning and grden once again looks lovely.VBut it has got very cold here now so just put my heating on,im frozen. How old is the dog and what is his name ,My brother lost one of his dogs yesterday ,its a shame because he hadbrother and sister dogs ,i think the other one will now pine for her brother. They are quite old and he had them from someone who didnt want them anymore.

You lucky thing with your snow.

Erm, the dog is about 4/5 years old and was surrendered to the pound along with a husky and another dog.

Apparently they'd been kept in a shed and the collie, called Molly, is quite malnourished and her coat so matted it had to be cut.

I'm excited and nervous.

She's supposed to be extremely gentle which would be lovely so we'll take her and see how we get on.

G is delighted.

Tn0g · 06/02/2009 14:02

I wonder how CC is getting on.

I always seem to fall short of being sympathetic with her and end up acting like some kind of self-righteous psycotherapist crossed with a rather annoying cheerleader.

mummylin2495 · 06/02/2009 14:05

i would love the husky dog ! can you ship it to me ? xcup having a few probs at moment but i am not at liberty to reveal.

OP posts:
Tn0g · 06/02/2009 14:08

I'll put the husky on the next Ryanair with a suitcase of soda bread and red lemonade for you.

Tn0g · 06/02/2009 14:10

I think actually the husky and the other dog were pretty much snapped up immediately.

Molly looks a bit sad with her cut coat and being all skinny, so not as appealing.

they have very special eyes and there were two of them at our local dog show last year.they were rescue dogs and the owner said they need a lot of attention and dont like being on their own for any length of time.My first dog was a mongrel and we got him from the RSPCA,he was a lovely faithful dog and was 17 when he died.We also had a boxer who was the most disobedient dog i have ever known !

Do you know, M, what he best way to fatten up a malnourished dog would be.

I mean obviously feed it but what kind of things?

mummylin2495 · 06/02/2009 14:13

i have just opened an email from my sis in law called " why everyone should have a dog " how strange is that ?

Tn0g · 06/02/2009 14:14

Lol at the disobediant boxer

I think G would like something like that.

They could be disobediant together

Tn0g · 06/02/2009 14:15

M, STOP!

Tis very very freaky

< hair stands up on back of hands >>

mummylin2495 · 06/02/2009 14:16

well dd has a staffie and she gets tripe ,liver and dry dog food ,im not sure if this is because of the breed ,she also has chicken[ fresh] your dog may eat tinned food with biscuits mixed in and maybe she will need some dog vitamins too to build her up a bit.Im sure she will turn back to a lovely dog with a lot of care

mummylin2495 · 06/02/2009 14:17

oh he was awful and the times threatened to get rid of him ! but we kept him and had him for nearly 14yrs ,i only put a pic of them o my profile this week, its an oil painting done as a gift to us from a friend ,both dogs are in it.

OP posts:
Tn0g · 06/02/2009 14:18

Ok, I'll try the vitamin thing, thanks .

My heart goes all melty when I think about her

Tn0g · 06/02/2009 14:19

The boxer was a very handsome dog wasn't he.

I can imagine he was a handful alright.

mummylin2495 · 06/02/2009 14:21

the boxer always had to prove he was the top dog and would not sleep in his own bed ,he had to lie on top of our poor old dog ,who had athritis.if other people were standing around ,the boxer would then attack the older dog.He drew blood more than once from him.The older dog was a really faithfull old thing and we paid to have his ashes returned to us ,he is buried in the garden.he looked similar to a fox !

OP posts:
mummylin2495 · 06/02/2009 14:23

the boxer was also very hard to house train ,it took nearly two years ! i would take him out for his walks [ when he was smaller ] and he would wait till he got back indoors and go all over the kitchen floor,he was a nightmare .he once pulled me over in the mud and i was mortified in case anyone was watching out of their windows !he then got too strong for me and dh had to take him for his walks

OP posts:
mummylin2495 · 06/02/2009 14:24

and he refused to drink water unless you put a bit of milk in it !

OP posts:
mummylin2495 · 06/02/2009 14:26

i used to make my grandad a sunday roast, feeze it then he would have it the following week ,one day dh got it out ready to take it over gdads house and the bloody dog ate it ,frozen ,he ate baco foil ,candles ,tipped up my deep fat fryer and ate alll the fat ,you name it he would eat it.he also ate dh,s pie when he turned his back,oh yes he was a handful alright

OP posts:
mummylin2495 · 06/02/2009 14:29

when our friend did that painting,he took photos of both dogs then put them together ,they never would of sat like that together ! It was a wedding gift to us.

Tn0g · 06/02/2009 14:29
