OK - genuine questions then, what are your views on vaccinations, home schooling, abortion and religion.

I'm interested to see if you have the views I expect you have?

Anti-vax for my family but don't care about what others do, anti-abortion and not interested in other people's education choices. I'm sure that's exactly what you needed to hear to make some sort of remark about me.

Anyway I wasn't expecting to derail the thread though so happy to leave it there.

I've seen people online say that Brand was a great threat to the Establishment because of his social media popularity,so he had to be brought down. There's always a conspiracy theory!
Way more likely that he was goind guilty of rape because he's a rapist.

Bandsis · Today 15:18

He wasn't found guilty on all counts, so the jury did think some allegations were false?

I don't, but it's interesting that he could be found guilty of some and not others.

They didn't think they were false. It's a very important distinction to make.

Hasn’t he got 3 daughters?
How lovely for them to grow up knowing their dad is a rapey piece of shit.

Hopefully Social services will intervene.

Not necessarily. With some of the earlier allegations there was limited corroborative evidence so they may have thought it was probably true, but they have to be more sure than that - e.g. with the alleged rape at the labour party conference there was evidence from one if Brand's former colleagues that he had behaved differently on the final day, the prosecution said this was because the rape had happened the night before. However Brand's evidence was that he had been with the woman 2 nights previously. If that was the case then there is no explanation for a behaviour change. Evidential conflicts may have led to a conclusion there was reasonable doubt.

With subsequent allegations (e.g. the anal rape charge) there was a lot of contemporary corroborative evidence.

Threat to the establishment😂
Yes I am sure that an over the hill over the top fading comic has the establishment quaking!

I think his wife will now quickly get a divorce sorted out. His earnings will diminish at lightening speed, she will have no advantage in staying with him.

I had my drink spiked when I was 19.

I woke up at home covered in blood, wearing a hospital gown and with a random american man's passport in my handbag, with no recollection of anything past arriving at the bar completely sober.

I was a state when I went to police station. Security cameras saw me being led out of the bar, shoved into a car, then one hell of a commotion that led to me being thrown out of the car shortly down the road (luckily it turns out I am a vicious fighter when drugged). An ambulance took me to hopsital to stitch me up and sort out my breathing (depressed due to the date rape drug used). I then apparently ran out of the hopsital to my house.

Anyway, the point is that before the police had managed to put any of that timeline together, I had to go through the rape kit as no one knew what had happened.

It was humiliating. I hope they are better now but I would never do one again. Standing naked and shivering as a stern woman took photos and the two male police officers were joking around and laughing behind the screen. Thankfully I was fine, but I don't think I would have had the backbone to go to court even if it was worse.

I seriously doubt these women, who had not met before, simultaneously decided to go through this whole process for a jape.

I’m so sorry this happened to you 😞

Charlize43 · Today 16:00

He needs a long custodial sentence. How many years did Harvey Weinstein get?

Brand claims he slept with 5000 women but can't help wondering how many didn't give consent? Also, these aren't the women in the documentary, are they? One of them was raped in LA, I recall...

Seems like a big fat set up to me. Like there has been so much wrongdoing amongst celebrities and they just had to convict someone to make it look like something was being done. He was an easy target because of his vast sexual history.

Obviously I wasn't there for the trial so maybe I'd feel differently after hearing it all. But as it stands I don't think he's guilty. Not that my opinion means anything to anyone besides me so not sure why I'm being name called.

@IronEverything who is 'they' please?

LumberPainJackie · Today 16:01

There's a Dispatches on 4Od, clearly they can say things now it is proven.

It doesn't mean the jury thought they were false just that they couldn't be proved beyond doubt.
