What’s the best posh hotel in London

Looking to book a night at a fancy hotel for DH’s 50th. What would be people’s recommendations?

Excellent service is probably the most important thing to us. He loves old school traditional type things. Went to Simpsons in the Strand recently which he adored.

Am contemplating The Savoy, The Ritz or OWO Raffles. We’ll probably see a show so keener on that bit of London rather than the Dorechester.

Woykd love to hear people’s thoughts

The Peninsula (Hyde Park Corner) is probably the poshest I've been to (I've been to many that others have mentioned).

They have a fleet of Rolls Royce for guest use (no idea if that's every guest BTW).

It isn't. Their guests can request one. Went to the Hong Kong one 30+ years ago. I thought I knew posh until I went there (Mandarin on the opposite side of the harbour equally luxurious). I need a GoFundMe!!
I used to look for deals on some of these hotels in the early days of the internet/booking.com Unfortunately prices have risen dramatically

Rules is amazing, have a cocktail in the upstairs bar/winter garden first. The food is the best of traditional and seasonal British fare. I also suggest the Langham as a posh hotel

Bro2ns hotel is quieter and the service impeccable

I've not stayed but the St. Pancras Station hotel or the Clermont Charing Cross Station hotel are on my wishlist.

The latter is very handy for the theatre district.

Edited

Not the Clermont! Yes it’s handy, but inside it’s like a premier inn. Especially if you get a room that’s about 6 miles (ok, maybe a mile!) from the entrance.

Browns? and Rules for dinner?

The Langham.

I agree and the Palm Court is gorgeous. We had two lovely nights there and enjoyed it.

The OWO is gorgeous

Charing Cross is my normal stay. It's very good value, unusually reliable for a London hotel and has decent sized rooms in a lovely building in a good location. It's not posh like the ones OP suggested though.

Hotel 41. It’s fab. Staff are amazing and so cosy in winter.

Have a look at Hannah Ricketts on YouTube, she reviews premium hotels in London and gives her very honest opinion.

100% The Lanesborough if he's a traditional chap.

The Edition of he's up for something a little more modern.

Oh definitely - me too!! It's really good as she'll tell you how much she paid, she'll show you around the room, she'll talk about the service and the food. She's really comprehensive to be fair.
