Would you live in a house with a tragic/dark history?

I've just gone down a rabbit hole thanks to a book I'm reading and found this. It's a lovely little flat in a great location and for the time, a brilliant price. But would I want to live there? I don't know. I'm not given to woo and I'm quite level-headed but I'm not sure I'd fancy it tbh.

Would you live in a house that had a dark history? Particularly if you could get it for a knock down price?

Those are cosmetic issues, they would have been replaced.

My next door neighbour died in his front room earlier this year. Lived alone, took a week for anyone to notice. The ambulance staff took him down three flights of stairs in broad daylight, I went in for a nosey about the flat while they were carting him off. It was stripped, cleaned, an let out again within the month. New neighbour is lovely and couldn't care less about the prior events.

You can’t replace the joists - or if you could I very much doubt they would have - there will still be some matter in the drain system surely

I just couldn’t - not a place like that

I couldn't knowingly live in a property that had been lived in by the likes of Denis Nilsen. Not that I am not usually particularly "woo" or anything, but it would feel creepy. It would send shivers down my spine.

My house dates back to the 14th century and I’m sure there have been a few deaths and tragedies over the years. Despite this, I have never felt any wooo wooo shudders or ghostly goings on. I think some people are more prone or hypersensitive and let their imagination dwell on a house’s possible history whereas I just worry about the roof.

There's a huge difference between a house like yours and Dennis Nilsons flat, he stuffed corpses everywhere he could fit them and they were there for months and months, it was horrific and I think most people would be uncomfortable in a house with a recent history like that. but natural deaths probably wouldn't phase most people, even some murders that dated back to the 15th century I'd be ok with because so much time has passed...
