Who else absolutely LOVES the rain?

Is it just me, or does anyone else love the rain? For me, there’s something amazing about waking up on a weekend to rain coming down in sheets, the fire lit, pyjamas staying on, and something warm and carb-heavy suddenly feeling essential. Then there’s the joy of being out in it. Wrapping up, getting out my new coat and feeling alive with the rain on my face and the smell of wet pavements or damp grass... Coming home feels so much cosier afterwards. I’m sure I’ve read that there’s some science behind why certain people find rain so comforting. Anyone?

I think I like change in seasons the best- so after a warm summer getting cosy, cooking a roast is lovely. By January I’m over it and happy for spring though!

I love rain at night, I find the sound of it beating on the roof and windows when i am tucked up warm in bed very soothing but I could do without it in the day. I hate being cold and wet and would rather not have to go out in it.

Yes I love the no expectation of having to go out. I just never go out in the rain, the dogs hate it so I don’t drag them. And it barely rains in the south east so only talking a day or two a week at most.

it basically didn’t rain for 6 months and was awful.

It's a novelty at this point in the year. There's a reason you don't get the I love the rain/ cold/ dark posts in February.

Laiste · 26/10/2026 16:40

Nope.
Mud, wet leaves tracking in, wet clothes hanging about, the car carpet getting dirty, the recycling all wet to move, fucks your hair up.

The only time i might like it is when you're cozy in bed and you can hear it lashing down. But i want it gone in the morning !

My poor partner used to have to work outdoors in it, and it added hours onto his working day, and he'd come home miserable and sniffly. It also makes it harder to walk the dogs as we live fairly rurally.

As a pp said, I also hate how dull it makes everything. I'm all for cosy, dark evenings, lighting a candle and shutting everyone out, but I'm just as happy for that to happen without being soaked.

I enjoy this sort of weather. Now summer I cannot stand at all!

Yes and the dark! I am odd in that I also like the dark evenings... 😱

Not odd at all.

🎼Hello darkness my old friend..🎶

I’m loving it at the moment because about 78% of the country is still officially in a drought (severe drought in some areas) after the heatwaves, so we desperately need it. 🙏

As a farm worker, I am glad to see its return after a long, dry summer! It also keeps the flies down, which makes the cows happier.

I used to love walking my dogs in the rain when we lived in a busier area, because it was so peaceful. There was only one other woman who used to do the same, so our dogs could have a long, joyous off-lead run around together. They had a ball of a time, even in the fine rain that gets you wet, as we say back where I grew up!

Oh I love it. Cosy getting home from work and it's dark and you light a candle and get warm. Doesn't feel as much need to go anywhere or do anything.

What I think is odd is that I often go to work for about 430am/5am so it's dark when I leave love that too and the sky just starting to let some light in is lush.
