Morning All! What's everyone up to today?

I'm just drinking my first cuppa of the day, in my conservatory spot, after a toasty lie in with boy cat stretched out along me 🤣. Dd1's up and out to work already but we suspect it'll be rained off - she'll get paid so many hours for still going in. Dd2's been down for breakfast and a cuppa and taken them upstairs with girl cat.

I've got the washer going already, washed a few pots, and put some to soak. I'll finish those off when I get up for my tablets shortly.

Today's plan is to relax for an hour or two with my crochet - this one's a fairly quick project, I just need to find myself a smallish strawberry pattern - then get my bum into painting gear & try to get as much of the 1st coat of gloss in the hallway done as I can. Then more crochet, or try to finish my current book. My tbr is large & I was very tempted to add a series to it yesterday 🙈. I also want to find a pair of heels on Vinted, and maybe look at some loafers or similar for work 🤔. My trusty trainers are done after 2 years & I don't really want to pay out for a new pair right now.

Dd2 is planning to crack on with college work for a few hours. I'll interrupt every now & again so she joins me for a break!

Later on it's leftover takeaway for tea, showers and relax some more. So ready for a week of everything & nothing!

What about you? 🙂

Good morning @lucysmam

i love this thread and a good friend of mine mentioned to me that they read it too and also Find it very comforting. You are a mn legend!

I’m visiting my mom in her new rehab home (shes finally out of hospital!) which I’m sure will be exhausting and upsetting as she’s very unsettled by the move.

Going to see the Ghosts film tonight - can’t wait!

OchreSwan · 24/10/2026 10:03

Agreed with PP that I love how comforting this thread is! We’re currently on our way into central for a bit of a day out. We’ve got one activity planned and may stay out for longer or may come home quite soon after - depends on how the rain goes. Don’t want to be trudging around in a downpour! I quite fancy popping into our favourite pub in Soho for a couple if we decide to stay out.

Once we’re home it’ll be something easy for dinner, tackling the pile of clean laundry to put away, and finishing off last night’s bottle of red. I’d quite like to have a bit of time with my book and knitting too.

Have a good day all!

My plan today involves my blanket coffee and book peppered in with playing with the four year old and struggling to keep awake with the ageing dog snoring.

MyGallbladderIsAFucker · 24/10/2026 10:06

And agree it's nice to hear about real weekends not just Facebook ones.

Topsy44 · 24/10/2026 10:08

Good morning Lucysmam and All

I’ve been up for about an hour, had a cup of tea and toast.

Will get myself into the shower in a mo and get ready for popping into town with DD. She’s still got some money on a birthday voucher that she wants to spend I think in New Look so we’ll do that and probably get some decent snacks in for this evening while watching Strictly.

Need to give the upstairs a bit of a once over but I have got a few days off next week due to half term so a nice feeling that not everything has to be crammed into one weekend! Enjoy your Saturdays all.

Shergill15 · 24/10/2026 10:34

Morning @lucysmam and all. Just had coffee and breakfast. We've booked for pumpkin picking soon, bit gutted about the weather but we'll done wellies and big coats and brave it. DD will love it, it's on a nearby farm so you also get to meet the animals and they usually have some decent artisan food trucks there too. There's a new cake shop opened just round the corner from our house so might call in there on the way home for a treat. This evening will cosy up and watch Strictly.

DilemmaDelilah · 24/10/2026 10:35

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone!

I had a good night after 2 bad ones in a row and have just finished a piece of toast with DELICIOUS home made plum jam.

I finished the little evening bag I was working on last weekend and have started on another one. It's just for fun really, I do all the sewing by hand because it's something I can do in front of the telly when I'm sitting with Mr Dilemma, so they're not good enough to sell, but they look fairly impressive. I made myself an everyday bag a couple of weeks ago. All the fabric and trimmings are remnants so they aren't expensive to make. Mr Dilemma is very impressed!

He has just gone out to the shed with a hairdryer to defrost the shed freezer. Or, to TRY to defrost the shed freezer. I'm hoping he unearths something tasty to eat this evening, as I haven't even thought about what were going to eat yet. He keeps telling me that either 'we haven't got anything to eat' or 'we have loads of food that needs using up'. Hopefully this will consolidate his opinion one way or another. I know there is loads of stewed apple in there from last year... So maybe we can have an apple crumble. We did have chicken fried rice last weekend, rather than the fricasee I fancied, so maybe we can have that today. I know we have some cooked chicken in the freezer.

Kitchen ratty has not been caught on camera since the night before last, so I'm hoping that all the rodent deterrents we have used have been effective. The rat has had absolutely NO interest in the baited traps we put down. There has been no further incursion into my baking cupboard, we blocked the hole where it had been getting in, (a hole made to put a plug through) and no evidence of it getting in to any of the other cupboards. Everything has been thoroughly washed and anything NOT in a glass jar thrown away. I've never been so glad that I have been using jars for my stores!

So plans for today - put away the clothes and other random stuff that are/is in the bedroom Houdini's mum (DD2) will be sleeping in on Wednesday. Finish the crimson velvet evening bag that I started and nearly completed yesterday, maybe start a couple of beaded felt Christmas pudding decorations. Go out to the shed several times to tell Mr Dilemma what a great job he is doing (and to offer some helpful suggestions), identify something(s)to cook for tonight - and cook it/them, put a wash on. That's about it I think.

zingally · 24/10/2026 10:48

Nothing planned for today!

Did the food shopping yesterday, in the pouring rain, thinking today would be worse. Typically, it's been dry all morning so far, but very grey. The rain is due from about 11am.
I did briefly debate driving over to M&S Food for a mooch and a look at what's new, but honestly, I hate driving in bad weather, and only do it when I really have to. Doing it for fun doesn't appeal. Plus, I hurt my back last weekend, and it's still quite sore in one bit in particular. Sitting and driving won't do it any favours.

Plan for the day is to scroll on here for a bit, and then settle down with a book, or something on the telly. I've just caught up with The Traitors from last night. I missed it as I was on the phone with a friend. Typically cliff-hanger ending!

Just had some crumpets for breakfast, and tea later will be chicken thigh fillets, mash, veg and gravy.

Tiddlywinks63 · 24/10/2026 10:48

‘Morning! It’s just started raining again here but not windy yet.
So, this morning I have made tomato soup, honey and mustard chicken is also ready for dinner. I’m cleaning out the top drawer in the kitchen; I have a ridiculous amount of kitchen utensils etc many of which I don’t use so a big tidy and clearance underway.
Then I plan to do very little for the rest of the day 😁

FayKnights · 24/10/2026 10:49

Morning @lucysmam and the Saturday gang!

The crafters in this group are so clever, I cannot get the hang of crocheting, I need to give it another go I think.

All good here, just had a quick tidy around the kitchen and then hopping in the shower.

We have a new pilates studio opened up nearby so going for a beginners reformer class shortly. I tried it before a quite a long time ago and enjoyed it, so hoping it sparks me to make it a habit. Being in close walking distance of the house helps!!

Dogs will be taken to woods when I get back, then into the shower again to get ready for a dinner followed by a Candlelight Concert in London Bridge.

Have a great Saturday all 🥰

Bringyourfoldingchair · 24/10/2026 10:58

Morning everyone! Slow one here today. I got up and made coffee and breakfast for everyone in bed. I’ve cleaned up downstairs and lit the fire. Then back to bed, cosy with DH3. Going to get up and showered soon and a bit of a tidy upstairs. It’s really stormy here already so probably not up to much today. Got the food shop last night so plenty in but still toying with a take away later. Have to drop DS12 to his friends late afternoon. They were supposed to be going to the fireworks but they’ve got cancelled. I’m minding my nephew this evening while DSis is out. Hopefully him and DS8 will play about just. I’m off work all week. Had an early night last night so hoping. Everyone was in a bit of a funny form. Hopefully today feels more weekendy!

gingercat02 · 24/10/2026 10:59

We're in a cottage on the N York moors, with some very old friends. Everyone is mooching, drinking coffee and deciding if we should go for a walk before the storm kicks in.
We have a ton of food, wine and beer so we'll be good.

Good morning all! I had some friends over last night so it was a slow start. I've been out to pick up our new Christmas tree from Argos - the kitten wrecked our last one and I remembered I hadn't replaced it in January as I'd planned to.
Just finished cleaning up and the dishwasher is running from last night's dishes.
I am now under a blanket with a cup of tea and the Christmas edition of Good Housekeeping. I am seeing a show with DD tonight so I am looking forward to that.

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 24/10/2026 11:10

Good morning lucysmam and others. I've had 2 coffees and a cup of tea, a bowl of porridge with nut butter. Then I stripped the bed and loaded the dishwasher. The bedding is now drying in the tumble dryer. I made lentil soup with masses of veg and I'm looking forward to a bowl at lunchtime. Saturday is my housework day, so I will continue with that after a cup of tea. I've storm proofed the garden as much as I can for the next one kicking in later today. Dinner will be trout with roasted veg before watching Strictly. Take care everyone

Glimerz · 24/10/2026 11:10

Good morning! Staying in an air b&b which has been very wet and windy! Heading out for a late lunch later. Hoping the weather isn’t to bad. It’s been nice and chilled. I have got back in bed as have some life admin to do that I had avoided before we came. Need to make some breakfast but comfortable in bed with the dog snoring next to me!

Fatbadger50 · 24/10/2026 11:11

Morning! I had a bit of a rubbish sleep so feeling tired and low energy this morning even after two cups of coffee. DD and DH went off to her football match and I’m now walking the dogs through light drizzle. I need to run after the dog walk (training for an ultra) and not feeling it!

@DilemmaDelilah can we see some of your crafting?

@FayKnights it took me years to get the hang of crochet then one day it just clicked 💡!

I need to go to Lidl and I really don't want to! I've done some washing and changed the bed sheets, just need to put the dry clothes away, hoover and mop the floors now. Slow afternoon reading and drinking tea I think. Oh, trip to B&M too as requested by the DC!

DilemmaDelilah · 24/10/2026 11:41
