…followed by an email “have a great half term…here’s some homework plus a half term project”…and no doubt another virus.

No - private. Most pupils had two working parents and weekends attendance at events was very high

Makes sense in private a whole different kettle of fish.

Not gonna happen in state. Parents have to somehow work round it or have your kids be the one where no one has come to watch them.

Very sad. X

I don’t think it’s a binary choice of non attendance = sad children. As teachers DH and I would try and make events but its difficult profession to arrange cover. I would like to think my DCs were - and still are - happy.

Very hard to arrange cover. That's when its really handy if you have GPs or other family members who can step in.

It’s a pity about this thread. It would have been better without all the SAHM bickering.

Not everyone has GPs alive or nearby. Ditto other family. It’s very much based on the idea of a Stepford wife with large extended family as well. Basically life isn’t like that.

My parents and DH’s didn’t live in the same country to us and when DT’s were young, grandparents were still working full time.

There seems to be an idea that’s it’s 1950 and someone is sat at home all day.
