Someone get Laura Brand (Gallacher) on a cult deprogramming course?

The videos Russell Brand is posting with his wife as a prop, discussing his rape trial, are absolutely mental and very sad. She is locked in orbit of a shapeshifting narcissist. She doesn’t seem to be thinking about herself or her children. Will she ever break out of his spell? If he is sent to prison will it deepen her true believer status or will she finally begin to feel freedom? It is so sad to watch. I wonder if people around her have tried to help her free herself?

i think RB is very creepy and disturbing.Honestly he makes the hairs on the back of neck stand up.
My gut tells me the allegations against him are probably true, but wether i could on hearing the evidence so far convict him beyond a reasonable doubt i'm not certain at this stage. Historic allegations are very difficult to prove .The jury being 8 men and 4 women may be squewed in the male perspective of benefit of doubt? Every juror has to be sure beyond a reasonable doubt
I think the cult like chanting and spouting scripture doesnt go down well in the uk, its gets a better reception in US though. Im not religious so i may be biased but it all sounds unhinged to me.
As for LB, she seems captured by the religious dogma he spouts and she spouts it too. She believes his version of events ie: he was wildly promiscuous and everthing was consentual even if unedifying my his current standards ,the accusers only came forward after the documentary that he says was a hit piece ,he is her husband ,reformed from drugs and sex adddiction and presumably has never given her reason to doubt him in 11 yrs since his redemption arc?
It will be interesting what LB does if he is convicted and imprisoned.......

I don’t get why anyone would find him attractive yet apparently lots of women did back in the day. He has always looks like he stinks.

He blames the system because he claims to be telling people ‘the truth’ that they don’t want us to know. In reality he has tried to be political, then claim people shouldn’t vote, then political again - same with religion.

He’s an attention seeking twat and I hope she is able to extricate herself and her children from him

Darkershadeofpink · 21/10/2026 17:39

I also wonder if being in court will affect her, and whatever happens, it will surely affect his reputation. The braying along agreeing with him on everything bothers me.

CossyBunt · 21/10/2026 17:41

Don’t infantilise her. Perhaps she knows her own mind? The woman as victim narrative is false.

EverybodyLTB · 21/10/2026 18:20

Some women are vile fucking bitches. We’ve all met a horrible woman in our time, surely? I’m always on here telling people to LTB, but a woman saying ‘my husband does XYZ abusive things, and I think it’s all great and you’re all just jealous’ I wouldn’t even bother with.

Years ago my friend finally confided in me (we’d moved very far apart), that the reason she’d recently split with her husband is because she was being seriously abused by him. He was then at that time trying to financially ruin her through the courts system of that country. Long story short, she asked that when I come over could I please go with her to speak to his new gf as she seemed very young and vulnerable and she wanted to warn her not to get too invested, and to keep her guard up. Got there and sat down, I knew the girl would be sceptical and potentially madly in love with him so wasn’t holding out for much, but what we got was unhinged. She threw insult after insult at my friend, not defending lies her told her - he’d told her the truth! She told my friend she deserved to be raped by him, as it was his right as a man and she was a stupid slag etc etc anyway so what difference did it make. She deserved to be financially ruined, because she’d wasted his time by being a shit wife and he deserved compensation to spend on himself now he was with someone better / like her. All this was said in many variations with pure venom and awful words. We left absolutely gobsmacked. That had to have been about 25 years ago and according to the grown up kids and various dealings, this woman is cruel to the core. Always appalling towards her stepchildren, just nasty down to the ground. Nobody sees her unless they have to, and when the EXH died, my friend’s kids were extremely worried about their younger half-siblings being left with her. Do I think she was hypnotised, brainwashed, or led astray? No, she was the lid for his evil pot!

m00ngirl · 21/10/2026 20:23

He’s posted a video of her titled “How is Laura handling the pressure” 🤮

un fucking believable. So exploitative!

I don’t think every woman living with a man who has abused other women is automatically a victim, but a lot are. Also he’s extremely narcissistic and manipulative so I don’t think anyone can be in a relationship with him without being deeply manipulated very successfully.

I heard from friends in the industry long before the Dispatches that he was a known offender. Not just promiscuous. There were known rape allegations.

I’m not sure what his behaviour has been like post Laura but I heard from a journalist I know that everyone he’s worked with on his podcasts etc had to sign NDAs and there have been acrimonious departures… My personal belief is a leopard never changes its spots.

I expect part of the manipulation (seen it so many times) is he’s made her part of his “reformed character” narrative, and she she’s fixing/healing him etc etc

Why the assumption she is an innocent victim? She chose to marry a man who openly claimed to be a sex addict who was known to be promiscuous to the extreme. I don't like when it's presumed that women are too stupid to know their own minds. Why is she the presumed vulnerable or mentally ill one and not him? (Not defending him btw)

Agreed. Many, many women choose to stand by men like this for a whole host of reasons - and often it's because they want to, simple as that.

Darkershadeofpink · 21/10/2026 21:20

I really wouldn’t have thought them posting is allowed. It’s a serious court case. It’s so narcissistic. Who cares how Laura is handling it?! Their children, whether they like it or not, are going to read details of what he did, or alleged he did, in the not too distant future. She is enabling him. His verbose spouting has never impressed me, there’s something entirely disingenuous about it. I think too that she thinks she’s saved him. And I doubt his sexual preferences have changed too much. Maybe she feels chosen or something. It’s really distasteful to the women who have bravely come forward. And to the justice system. They should just keep quiet. Whay are they like to be around?! I sure would see through it. Their poor children. You need your mother to protect you. His past is clearly catching up with him. But she has a choice.

Allthebookszerofucks · 22/10/2026 00:20

Well today she had to sit and listen to the graphic details of an anal rape, I listened to the BBC sounds podcast tonight about it. The details completely shocked me, and the victim was so brave. Out of all of the charges I believe this is the one most likely to end in conviction, that poor girl 😢

And I'm pretty sure that if I had to sit and listen to the details of my husband doing something so awful I absolutely wouldn't ever be able to look at him the same way again

I also believe that there's no way she has never seen this side to him,..he believes he is 'owed' sex/sexual acts. She's been with him for years, and met him in the 2000's when some of these accusations are from...he absolutely would have been forceful/not respected her wishes at times, I'd put money on it. There's no way that for the whole time they've been together shes only ever seen a completely different version of him to everybody else

I’m completely agree with you. He’s been like this with her I would imagine. For her - There’s dealing with this in theory and being in court seeing these women and how they are giving their testimony. I can only imagine she thinks she has changed him and he’s now a family man. But he doesn’t do any childcare and possibly sees the children as an extension of him. I wouldn’t be able to look at him either. Her friends and family will now all know the details. The children will see it eventually if not be aware now whats going on. She has a choice.
I’ve come across men like this on a much lesser scale but who change, who come across as vulnerable and different when you’re together. But when they’ve gone you realise you’ve dodged a massive bullet and they are messed up, that they think and act differently to other men. The spouting and verbose language is also the giveaway he absolutely hasn’t changed. He believes he’s better than everyone and is trying to outrun this. The cover is now religion. I don’t think he will outrun it. It’s his last hoorah and she is in massive denial.

TFImBackIn · 22/10/2026 12:15

I saw the first few minutes of the Sunday Service after reading about it on here and I thought she looked as though she'd just had sex. I don't know how she can be with him after the documentary on him - to hear all the other stuff is just horrendous.

PrimalScreaming · 22/10/2026 13:55

I've also just watched a bit of the Sunday Service mentioned above... the suspension of disbelief is extraordinary! As is the lighthearted laughter. Let's all play 'Happy Christian Family', while calling the media, 'evil' and with 'darkness'

I feel that both Russel Brand and Laura Gallacher have encased themselves in an impenetrable bubble of acolytes. They still have a whole 'congregation' supporting them in person and onlne. While that is still there I don't think there's any hope of her ever breaking free or the scales falling from her eyes, even if he is convicted! She is so far down the conspiracy rabbit hole - and that extends to her beliefs around her husband.

TurquoiseDress · 22/10/2026 13:57

All kinds of disturbing

m00ngirl · 22/10/2026 14:07

The testimony in the case today is absolutely harrowing and corroborated by many witnesses. Including a nurse.

Laura please join Mumsnet and we will handhold whilst you LTB!

I saw him perform live years ago, and his reaction to a woman heckling him in the audience chilled me to the bone. He was petulant, rude, and extremely defensive, even trying to have her thrown out over a completely innocent comment.

Those poor women 😢

I think it’s been deleted

m00ngirl · 25/10/2026 22:06

No Sunday Service today and old ones deleted..? No more jokes about the rape trial? Sounds like the lawyers stepped in..!

I saw an old Sunday service clip pop up on my feed that I hadn’t seen before where Brand says he felt God walking with him as he walked into the court room MORE than he has EVER felt God with him before including when his child was in intensive care.

Facing multiple of his alleged victims in a room, he feels not accountable, not shame, not anxiety, not sorry for his wife and little children, not regret, but he feels GOD.

The bloke is beyond all help. The worse things get the bigger his ego grows. He has a martyr / messiah complex (the irony). Laura is in a terrible situation
