Should I cancel delivery with HALF items missing?

I have bought a Sainsburys delivery pass, after just paying delivery charges and switching between them.

They have said that 25 items are unavailable - including ALL the protein and veg.

I am fuming. I have never seen an unavailable list SO large before.

I recently posted about Sainsburys not having loads of things in stock for an online order, and how they try to hide it.

Some posters told me I should get off my arse (I use deliver as it's hard to get into store) and stop whining.

So last week I did, and going round store was worse - there were so many empty shelves or shelves that had been rearranged to look full by expanding the remaining (presumably unpopular and/or expensive shit) across the width.

Mind you, I also used Morrisons once, and they were out of stock, and refusing the substitutes (if I'd wanted them I would have ordered them in the first place) took the order total below the threshold for cheaper delivery. That got sorted eventually.

I wonder what could have happened in 2020 to cause such a collapse in choice and availability ? Because things haven't been the same for at least 5 years

Thank you all, sorry for late reply, had to pop to GP to get my flu jab.

I am in England.

I have been switching between supermarkets, but decided to get a Sainsburys delivery pass, as they were the best, but hadn't got around to using it, as Morrisons gave me free deliveries for a month, so I did cancel it.

You are all right - the items were all the chilled items - I am so dumb I never noticed, I just saw the missing items, and realised they were the most important.

I managed to get an Ocado delivery for tonight.

I have seen nothing about the store having fridge items on SM, but it looks like they must have had.

I've been using Ocado for years (having previously tried all the 'cheaper' options). There are hardly ever any substitutions/missing items and the drivers are all delightful. If the cost of my shop is higher than the equivalent goods in Sainsbury I get a voucher to use against my next order. Can't recommend them highly enough.

Just completed my online shop. Out of a favourites list of 127, 19 items are "out of stock"..

Spending all the time in the world trawling through every shelf, this is because they are genuinely out of stock, and not (as Sainsburys fanbois have tried telling me) because the description or quantity has changed.

Moreover, of these items, 8 have been "out of stock" since August. I knew because I have had to ask neighbours to help out.

I would drag my sorry ass out to a store. But last time I did that, I came away with less than half my list. Empty shelves everywhere.
