Good Morning Mumsnet! What's everyone up to today?

I'm just finishing my first cuppa, and sorting my tablets for the week, in my conservatory spot. I've been pottering in the kitchen for a while - just need to go back and put away last night's pots shortly.

Today's plan here is much the same as yesterday - cross some things off my "downstairs done before Christmas" list and crochet. I'm almost to the point of fixing the living room now, which is excellent! I'm very bored of my current crochet project but it's not for me so I'll persevere, finish it before next weekend, and then move onto something festive maybe (or at least more fun!).

I'll have a walk to Lidl at some point for some jacket spuds, a cauliflower and some fresh fruit for my breakfasts for the week. Probably something from the bakery too 😋.

This evening we're having roast beef for tea, followed by some sort of dessert once I decide what to make. After that, tidy up, showers and make sure we're ready for the week ahead. I have a supply teacher most of the week, and am out a couple of days myself, so will probably leave slightly earlier the days I am in to make sure we're sorted at work too.

What about all of you? 🙂

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone.

I HAVE to continue sorting out - and more importantly putting away - my summer clothes and replacing them with winter clothes. I will start doing that as soon as I have finished doing this - because if I don't it just won't get done at all and I have a pile of clothes in the spare room, which Houdini's mum will be sleeping in when they come down to stay at half term (yaaay! I'm so excited!). I won't do all of it - I get too tired, but anything is better than nothing.

I wanted to go to the thrift Scrap store this morning but we tried to go yesterday and couldn't park, so Mr Dilemma has suggested that we go in the week when it is quieter. He is right of course.... sigh.

I will continue with some Christmas decoration sewing later - I've made felt Christmas stockings decorated with beads, embroidery and sequins, felt Christmas trees decorated with sequins (I probably need another one or two of those) but I'm trying to think of another simple shape to do. I have already made some felt stars and baubles but I don't think I want to use those as the colours don't match. If anyone can think of something ultra simple please let me know.

Tonight we are eating chicken cordon bleu (out of the freezer) with some of the ratatouille I made yesterday from a couple of donated courgettes, the last of our excess tomatoes, and some wrinkled peppers that were languishing in the bottom of the fridge. Plus onion and garlic of course. Mr Dilemma will probably have chips and peas.

I'm hoping Mr Dilemma will clear the hanging baskets and vegetable containers today, as it's not raining, but I'm not holding out a lot of hope. We should have a couple of (small) marrows, there is definitely some celery, and there may be some beetroot. There may even be a few green tomatoes as well. I'm thinking of making a green tomato chutney as I already have a container-full (not) ripening in the conservatory, but I'm just not sure whether we would eat it. I don't like waste though. My grandmother used to make green tomato chutney when I was a child but I don't remember ever eating any of it. If anyone has a good recipe please let me have it. I don't like anything that is hot and spicy, but I don't mind spices in general. I had some delicious tomato chutney at a pub last week that obviously had some curry spices in it, it was a very nice warm, rich, well rounded flavour without any heat, but my palate isn't refined enough for me to have been able to work out exactly what was in it.

Have a lovely day everyone, or at least the best day possible.

Maybe some bells?

Morning all!

Been having a lazy morning here just chilling on the sofa with a fluffy blanket. DD has headed off overnight for a gig so it’s just us, the dog and the 18yo who hasn’t emerged from bed yet.

Going to the local theatre tonight, I was working there last night as there was a magic show on and tonight we have the dress rehearsal for our next show (Frankenstein).

I’m doing very little as I’m sitting in hospital, unfortunately! I’ve had a shower and washed my hair. Waiting for lunch, can’t even remember what I ordered. Bored!

I’m here bacause my neurological issues flared up and I can’t currently walk. Can’t go home until the physios see me and check I’m ok to go. But none work on the weekend so it’ll be tomorrow at the earliest. Friends and family have been visiting which is nice but I’m very fed up with this happening (I was in hospital in January for the same problem) There’s not a lot can be done for it, that I’m not already doing. I’m tired, fed up, and grumpy!

@Bringyourfoldingchair Bells are a good idea! I could decorate them with ribbon and ricrac. Brilliant suggestion, thank you very much.

DilemmaDelilah · 11/10/2026 11:57

@lucysmam thank you for the suggestion. I had thought about gingerbread people but...
In my mind they have to be brown and I don't have any brown felt, and...
I tried making a felt gingerbread person and it was a total disaster!

Good afternoon @lucysmam & everyone. A grey soggy Sunday here in Cornwall. Another busy day so far. Awake early & was downstairs making tea before 7. Think I got up about 9, DH slightly later. I did a few bits including laundry, had beans on toast for breakfast & a 2nd cuppa before heading to Lidl to collect some Inpost parcels. The traffic was absolutely horrendous, even worse than in high season - I reckon there must have been an accident. I always seem to have problems with the Inpost lockers & actually have decided to stick to the PO or home delivery. After the pick up, I went to Costcutter for a few more packages. DH & I did a big Tesco shop. The list wasn’t very long but we ended up spending around £130. I may have bought a Christmas bag for life. Super cute! They had a Paddington bag but I still have one from last Christmas. Not long finished lunch & chilling now before I make another cuppa. Bought a big pack of 2 finger twixes so will no doubt have a couple of them with it. DH is gearing up to clear some rubbish from DD17’s room, also to put a new fitted sheet on her bed & new everything on our bed which was stripped this morning. I need to dig out some White Stuff jeggings which sold on Vinted. I’ve sold quite a bit recently. Hoping that my more expensive jewellery will shift, especially with Christmas coming up. I have 3 rings to upload, including a stunning TJC emerald one which is too big for me. On E Bay rather than Vinted. Easy tea tonight of pizzas (fresh for DH, frozen for me) & an evening of tv, maybe a film.

Good evening all, it looks like most people have had good sundays.

A busy one here, we forgot to do the online foodshop so we had to do it in shop today. Our son had his first hockey game of the season, his team won on penalties but both teams played really well. Its a long time for our youngest to watch so she had some sweet bribes.

My mum goes home on Friday, so we’re going away for a night tomorrow night without the kids. She always does this for us when she stays, we’re very lucky. She says its so we get some time off from parenting, in reality it’s so she can feed the kids shit and cancel any rules for 48 hours 🤣
