I'm just finishing my first cuppa, and sorting my tablets for the week, in my conservatory spot. I've been pottering in the kitchen for a while - just need to go back and put away last night's pots shortly.

Today's plan here is much the same as yesterday - cross some things off my "downstairs done before Christmas" list and crochet. I'm almost to the point of fixing the living room now, which is excellent! I'm very bored of my current crochet project but it's not for me so I'll persevere, finish it before next weekend, and then move onto something festive maybe (or at least more fun!).

I'll have a walk to Lidl at some point for some jacket spuds, a cauliflower and some fresh fruit for my breakfasts for the week. Probably something from the bakery too 😋.

This evening we're having roast beef for tea, followed by some sort of dessert once I decide what to make. After that, tidy up, showers and make sure we're ready for the week ahead. I have a supply teacher most of the week, and am out a couple of days myself, so will probably leave slightly earlier the days I am in to make sure we're sorted at work too.

What about all of you? 🙂

I’m just about to get up after having a cup of tea in bed with the big kitten on my lap. I need to tidy the kitchen and empty the dishwasher. Then I’m going to visit elderly relatives with another family member to talk to them about giving serious consideration into looking at care homes 😱 Tonight DD is working so I’ll be at home alone with cats to beg in front of telly

JingsMahBucket · 11/10/2026 10:01

Morning @lucysmam and the Sunday crew. We’re away cat sitting for some friends so have been enjoying waking up at a leisurely pace the past few days. I’m still in bed but will head downstairs in a bit for some breakfast.

We didn’t leave the house yesterday because we’re both run down and fighting off some kind of low level cold. Today we’ve promised ourselves to get up, showered and out of the house. We’ll likely head to a favourite Italian restaurant for lunch after taking out the recycling and tidying up. Oh and after cuddling the cat some more. After lunch we’ll visit some galleries, some window shopping and then head back here to get ready for the week.

Not sure what’s for dinner yet. We have food to nibble on in the fridge but we may just pick up some nice things from M and S along with salads. Have a lovely Sunday everyone.

Bringyourfoldingchair · 11/10/2026 10:03

Good morning!

DH got up and made coffee this morning. Once I had it I got up, put a wash on, cleaned out the fire, dusted, hoovered and mopped downstairs. Then I got back into bed with more coffee and some pancakes.

DS3 and DS8 are playing around and DS12 is studying for some tests he has this week. I will get up soon and hang the wash out, strip the bed and sort upstairs out.

Today DS12, DH and DDad are going fishing while me, mum and the younger two go to a park and walk near the fishing. Not really looking forward to it. I have a strange relationship with dad and DH doesn’t like him (for very good reason). I try and have as good a relationship I can with him and keep things normal for the kids.

I think DH wants to get chippy for tea after the fishing, so we’ll do that and then home for showers and early night.

Have a good day everyone!

TheChosenTwo · 11/10/2026 10:08

Morning all. Back in bed after unloading the dishwasher and putting on a whites wash.
dh is also in bed asleep, unlike him but he’s got a really nasty cold and it’s wiped him out.
I think I might bake something today but can’t think what, did some really squidgy brownies last weekend which were brilliant.
Roast beef for dinner tonight, think i’ll convince ds out for a walk later on with the promise of a stop off somewhere for lunch.
No real plans, I do love a somewhat lazy Sunday.
Oh, and I think we’ll have a fire again this evening.

Crunchymum · 11/10/2026 10:15

Hello all,

Happy Sunday.

We had a family party yesterday so was out most of the day / evening. So much to catch up on today.

Does anyone with young-ish children feel like it takes a whole day to get ready for the week ahead? Between homework, washing, ironing, prepping for lunches and dinner then I lose a whole day? I have all the aforementioned chores to do today as well as the cat litter trays and all the bedding.

Kids do help and have their own chores (13yo is hoovering the whole house, 11yo is cleaning the bathrooms today) but it just all takes so long.

Anyway moan over. Today we are staying in and doing homework and chores 😁

I'm batch cooking an Irish stew and a beef Keema today for the week ahead / freezer. May roast a chicken too to shred that for sandwiches for lunch. Think I'll just do a bowl of stew and bake some bread rolls for dinner.

It will be a film and an early night this evening before another busy week.

Favouritefruits · 11/10/2026 10:17

I have the ironing to do this morning and need a few bits from Sainsbury’s but it doesn’t open till 10:30 then this afternoon taking the kids swimming!

DilemmaDelilah · 11/10/2026 10:23

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone.

I HAVE to continue sorting out - and more importantly putting away - my summer clothes and replacing them with winter clothes. I will start doing that as soon as I have finished doing this - because if I don't it just won't get done at all and I have a pile of clothes in the spare room, which Houdini's mum will be sleeping in when they come down to stay at half term (yaaay! I'm so excited!). I won't do all of it - I get too tired, but anything is better than nothing.

I wanted to go to the thrift Scrap store this morning but we tried to go yesterday and couldn't park, so Mr Dilemma has suggested that we go in the week when it is quieter. He is right of course.... sigh.

I will continue with some Christmas decoration sewing later - I've made felt Christmas stockings decorated with beads, embroidery and sequins, felt Christmas trees decorated with sequins (I probably need another one or two of those) but I'm trying to think of another simple shape to do. I have already made some felt stars and baubles but I don't think I want to use those as the colours don't match. If anyone can think of something ultra simple please let me know.

Tonight we are eating chicken cordon bleu (out of the freezer) with some of the ratatouille I made yesterday from a couple of donated courgettes, the last of our excess tomatoes, and some wrinkled peppers that were languishing in the bottom of the fridge. Plus onion and garlic of course. Mr Dilemma will probably have chips and peas.

I'm hoping Mr Dilemma will clear the hanging baskets and vegetable containers today, as it's not raining, but I'm not holding out a lot of hope. We should have a couple of (small) marrows, there is definitely some celery, and there may be some beetroot. There may even be a few green tomatoes as well. I'm thinking of making a green tomato chutney as I already have a container-full (not) ripening in the conservatory, but I'm just not sure whether we would eat it. I don't like waste though. My grandmother used to make green tomato chutney when I was a child but I don't remember ever eating any of it. If anyone has a good recipe please let me have it. I don't like anything that is hot and spicy, but I don't mind spices in general. I had some delicious tomato chutney at a pub last week that obviously had some curry spices in it, it was a very nice warm, rich, well rounded flavour without any heat, but my palate isn't refined enough for me to have been able to work out exactly what was in it.

Have a lovely day everyone, or at least the best day possible.

keepswimming38 · 11/10/2026 10:26

Clean up the house today after we held a wedding bash here yesterday!

DilemmaDelilah · 11/10/2026 10:26

Oh also - if anyone is interested - Toby Carvery are doing £7 carveries between Tuesday and Friday this week. Were going on Wednesday, as we have to be out anyway.

Just thought I'd let you all know...

Glimerz · 11/10/2026 10:28

Good morning! I had a busy day yesterday and slept well which is unusual at the moment but I am still tired. A home day is my plan. Pottering and tidying as I go. The grass needs cutting so if I have the energy later I may do that. It’s been a slow start this morning, I am just waiting for a food delivery. It will be roast chicken for tea and a field dog walk at some point. Enjoy your Sundays.

lucysmam · 11/10/2026 10:31

@DilemmaDelilah how about gingerbread men/ladies?

Hello all

I had a full nights sleep last night. It’s been months since that happened. Still having a lazy morning though.

DD and her friends still asleep. DH and DS playing a game. All pets fed watered and toileted. We are meeting my family later for a big dog walk.

Final packing for holiday tomorrow and will download some bits for the plane and remind the children again to do the same.

I really want a roast beef for tea tonight now. Will have a think.

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 11/10/2026 10:37

Good morning lucysmam and others. I was up at seven, courtesy of dgs2 who is here for a sleepover. I've had 2 coffees and 2 mini egg muffins then a cup of tea. The dishwasher has been emptied and loaded. I've done a wash and dgs2 and I have played countless games of Frustration. He's on his ipad waiting for dd to pick him up and I'm scrolling. Once he's away, i will tidy up then think about dinner. It might be tuna and egg salad. Have a good day all.

brownbootsandhats · 11/10/2026 10:46

I have hurt my foot - it’s swollen and I don’t know why so all my plans are off

third mug of tea

Tiddlywinks63 · 11/10/2026 10:54

Good morning everyone, a murky, grey morning here, I’m hoping that the washing will dry on the line 🤞🏻
I have spent an hour or so finishing tidying my craft room (rather pleased with my efforts), a pork joint is in the oven, with potatoes, carrots, Brussels and peas prepared for cooking and I’ve tidied the kitchen. I have also stripped the chicken I cooked yesterday, put part of the meat in the freezer and I’m making stock with the carcass….Go me!
So, I’m enjoying a well-deserved coffee with two croissants, butter and marmalade in peace and quiet while DH walks bigger dog. Tiddler is scowling at me because she thinks I should sharing my breakfast with her 😁, tough!
Little else planned for the rest of the day besides doing some watercolour painting and sorting out my nails which I have totally neglected for months apart from clipping them. I must find some cuticle cream and hand cream.
Hope today goes well for you all x

LilyBunch25 · 11/10/2026 10:55

On cuppa no.3 and will be cooking a roast, going out to get some bark to tidy up front flower beds then giving all my grass the final cut of the year. Exciting times! 😊

Ooh mini egg muffins...?😋

I'm on a low carb diet and made them on Friday. Onion, red pepper and spinach sauted. Then added eggs and a little grated cheese and baked for 15 minutes. That gave me enough for 3 days.

BestIsWest · 11/10/2026 11:09

Morning @lucysmam.
Just having a second cup of tea and contemplating making a fancy coffee.
Then cleaning upstairs while DH does downstairs.
After that I have to nip to Dunelm to collect new bedding.

Going away tomorrow and DD is coming down to dog sit so I need to write a list of instructions for her as one of the dogs is on a new medication regime.

Then I will put a podcast on and do a bit of knitting. I’m making some little emotional support chickens as Christmas presents.

Oops then I completely misunderstood 🙈 I was thinking Cadburys mini eggs 😅 but they sound nice regardless!

Good morning all,
Having a lazy day around here, no plans to leave the house!
I've got two hours of free electricity from my provider between 11 and 1 to use, so am now running the dishwasher and the washing machine. Didn't really have a load of washing to do, so I've put my oodie in to freshen it up, as I wear it constantly in the winter months, and my "new" gilet which I got from a charity shop last week. It's in excellent condition and good quality, just needs to get that charity shop smell off it. :)

Going to make a coffee, and then sit and print off all the bits I need for tutoring in the next week. Then I'll park on the settee and alternate between my book and the new Monster series on Netflix. They're doing Lizzie Borden's story this series.

Dinner will likely be something quick and easy from the freezer. :) Have a good day all.

frozendaisy · 11/10/2026 11:39

Morning morning morning

Just mustering up the will to live with coffee

And then getting ready for a bicker with the youngster over something similar to why with historical chemistry questions you can’t mention protons until they had been discovered, and “I don’t know why there isn’t a chromatography question”.

Arguing with past papers is the house’s main hobby at the minute. (At least Eng Lit is done for this round).

Sunday roast later. That’s easy cooking, whilst packing bags, sorting uniform, exam pencil cases and then Last Week Tonight (we all heart John Oliver) and Slow Horses.
