i’m on annual leave, thought I would treat myself to a tub of Pringles, can’t remember the last time I had any, they taste different, Texas bbq was my favourite, they taste really weird now anyone else noticed?

No, they still taste like Pringles to me

Patioplant · 06/10/2026 13:07

Maybe it’s just because I haven’t had them in a while

They're not like they used to be. Unfortunately like lots of foods they seem to have been reduced.

I remember when the salt and vinegar Pringles used to practically take the surface off the top of your tongue the flavour was that strong. Now you just get a tiny waft of vinegar and hardly any salt.

It's probably a lot healthier - if any form of crisp can be described as healthy. It does make life a lot blander though.

They taste almost chemically to me, just left a strange taste in my mouth, I only went to the shop to buy milk and a magazine £7 later 🙄

They're not consistent in their quality definitely. Especially as Lindy2 says the S&V can be very hit and miss, sadly more miss these days.

I don’t think I will buy them again, they’re expensive now as well.

Try the Co op salt and Chardonnay vinegar crisps. Much much nicer.

Funnywonder · 06/10/2026 13:24

The flavour changed when the texture changed years ago. They went from being quite substantial to really thin and airy. You used to be able to see the flavour coating on them. I haven’t liked them as much since they ruined them way back when, although I still eat them from time to time. But yes, I think they’ve changed again. The sour cream and onion just taste really sharp and salty now. I actually threw some away because I couldn’t eat them. Not like me at all😅

I will have to try them thanks, I normally buy aldi crisps but I didn’t go there today.

The knock off from Aldi - the brilliantly named ‘Stacks’ - are better. Crunchier!

Wish I had known they had changed, even with Tesco club card they were £1.85 normally £2.25.

See I didn’t think they would be as nice! I didn’t go aldi as the one near me doesn’t sell magazines.

I live in another country but I am quite sure they must be pretty much the same everywhere.

I had not bought any for a while, and bought some to go on a road trip. Thinking easier to eat on the move etc. To start off with, yes they didn't seem to taste quite the same. But as I got further down the tube, it is so narrow now that I could not get my hand in to get them from about 3/4 way down. Admittedly I do not have dainty hands, but I know I used to not have to tip the tube to get them out in the past.

And then i saw a video on how they are made and then that was that for me.

sherbetlemonade · 06/10/2026 13:33

After about a year's gap, I had the sour cream & onion ones a few weeks ago, and I thought they weren't the same as before either.

PremierInnShafter · 06/10/2026 13:34

Irrelavant but I saw a comment where someone referred to watching TV with a 'pipe of Pringles' and it made me laugh.

They taste the same to me, but I prefer the Lidl knock offs. Crispier.

Think everything is getting smaller and more expensive, oh I better not watch this video then!

Aldi are better, and the Poundland version.

If you want a hazardously vinegarey salt and vinegar crisp, try Asda Exceptional. They nearly knocked my daughter off her chair and made the dog sick. Marvellous things.

pinenuts75 · 06/10/2026 13:36

I will have to try aldi or Lidl knock offs, I don’t really eat a lot of crisps though.

They're horrible now. I used to bloody love pringles, now they're starchy and artificial, not the same at all.

Same! I used to eat the whole tube in one go, but I’ve only eaten a quarter of the tube.

They're sort of dusty and very salty.

RogueFemale · 06/10/2026 13:41

Definitely a pale shadow of what they used to be (many, many years ago). I'm not even tempted to buy them anymore.

TittyGajillions · 06/10/2026 13:47

We had some bacon ones recently, and they had the weirdest aftertaste. I love the Aldi ready salted ones best, but they're hard to get at our branch.
