What’s your morning routine?

Inspired by another thread on how long it takes you to get ready for work each day, thought I’d ask, what’s your morning routine?

Mine is the same every day but the time tends to shift, depending on what work meetings I have. I’m an early riser so rarely set an alarm.

  1. 6am (ish) Wake and tend to dawdle/read news till around 6:45am.
  2. 6:45 ish: Eat breakfast (same thing EVERY day - 3 scrambled eggs and 1 Nespresso strong coffee with 2 shots) and pack lunch (if needed)
  3. 8ish: Shower, makeup, dry hair, iron clothes, get dressed
  4. Leave house around 9:30am for work at 10.

Obviously I do not have small humans in my life so morning routine is rather leisurely compared to many others.

OP, why don't you share notes with the other person asking the exact same question today

Well I couldn't have answered on that thread as I don't work.

Quartzfairy · 04/10/2026 20:25

I set my alarm for 6.45, make a coffee and take it back to bed, Read the Guardian online, do Wordle and scroll Mumsnet til 8. Shower, make up, hair, get dresses, take supplements. Usually out washing on and make breakfast. Start work at 9 (wfh).

Would people mind adding what time they go to bed/sleep? I really need to shake up my morning routine but never go to bed early enough and end up exhausted every morning!

10 at the very latest but usually more like 9.

Given OP has started this thread inspired by the other it’s unlikely they need a link to it.

That thread was for people who work, this one is for anyone.

I wake anywhere between 6:30 and 8, spend 20 mins cuddling the cat then get showered and ready for the day in 30 minutes. I have breakfast around 10/1030

familyissues12345 · 04/10/2026 20:34

6.45 - start attempting to wake up. DH puts the TV on the bedroom

7am - get up

7.10 - coffee

7.20 - wash, dress, make up

7.45 - leave home for work

I eat breakfast at work as I just can’t eat that early!

Eileen101 · 04/10/2026 20:39

5.45 - alarm goes off if a child hasn't already woken me, quick shower.
6-6.15ish coax children into school uniform or pe kit.
6.30 breakfast, overnight oats from the fridge
7.00 - start making sure teeth are cleaned, hair brushed, everyone's wearing socks. Get shoes, coats, helmets, footie kits, violins etc.
7.20 - out the door
7.30 breakfast club drop off. I dash back for the car, arriving at work around 8.20 if commuting, otherwise to my desk at home for 7.40.

When The children are older, I'd like to fit in the gym again like I used to.

bababamama · 04/10/2026 20:46

Alarm goes off at 7.55, straight into shower etc, dress, bung crumpets in toaster, boil kettle to make up thermos cup with herbal tea, eat first crumpet and head out of the door eating the second, I ve got it down to 25 minutes max.

TeaIsMySpecialistSubject · 04/10/2026 20:54

If DC doesn’t have early training then,
7:00 DH brings me tea, I brush my teeth and wash my face and head down for 7:20
chat to DH and DC and help them if they need it
they leave around 8:15
I tidy the kitchen, hoover downstairs, hang out laundry or put it in the dryer and put another load on,
have a coffee
then around 9:15 shower and get ready for the gym and head out about 9:30
On DC training mornings I’m up at 5:00
make myself a drink to take and we leave at 5:30
drive to training, sit and read or listen to an audible book until 7:10
get home about 7:40 and the usual routine commences except I take DC to school in the car.

allymccoist · 04/10/2026 20:57

I can’t believe how slow and leisurely some of these morning are!

I get up at 6.30, shower, get ready and leave the house at 7.15. I check in on teen dcs but they are generally just getting up as I am leaving. I take my overnight oats to work and eat them there when I arrive, usually at about 7.50 depending upon on traffic.

CrikeyMajikey · 04/10/2026 21:00

6am wake
6.15 shower, hair, dress
6.35 downstairs, grab lunch box
6.40 leave home

BitOutOfPractice · 04/10/2026 21:00

Alarm goes off around 7ish
Up and drink Tea and do puzzles for half an hour.
make breakfast, put gym gear on, clean teeth and out of the door by 8ish
Workout for an hour then shower / makeup at the gym then walk to work (10 minutes) for 9:30/10:00
I eat breakfast at work.

I love my morning routine.
