Just seen this on the news. Life is becoming terrifying these days. Pilot was stabbed by the co pilot. Said a very serious disaster avoided. Something to do with hi jacking. Or plan to kill all the passengers. Horrific.

It was a FlyDubai flight apparently, and the heroes were two other pilots who were travelling as passengers!

Yes, that was extremely lucky. I don't know how many flights have pilots travelling as passengers, but without their presence, disaster may have been almost certain.

Notonthestairs · 30/09/2026 15:01

Yes, thank heavens that the two Israeli pilots that were travelling stepped in. I gather they were on their way to pilot another plane.
The stabbed pilot did well to sound the alarm.

There is a passenger video from inside the plane as it is plunging, it is absolutely terrifying. You can see men at the front of the plane heading to the cockpit.

I don’t know if it’s only El Al airline, but I thought all flights into Israel had Israeli secret service on them, maybe that’s the reason the event was successfully intercepted.

I saw it and its terrifying. I was only explaining about 9/11 to my DN (who wasn't born at the time) a couple of weeks ago and the heartbreaking answer phone messages people left for their loved ones when they knew they were going to die. She said if that happened now then people would be taking videos instead and I thought that level of horror didn't even bare thinking about. And now it nearly came to pass.

One of the passengers said they were "relief pilots" as in they were going to be taking over on a subsequent shift, so doesn't sound like they were just random pilots who happened to be travelling on that plane.
The same passenger said one was British and the other European although obviously thats not been confirmed.

Viviennemary · 30/09/2026 16:47

Reports I've read are still confusing re who stabbed who. Did a pilot stab the other pilot to stop him crashing the plane.

I thought the copilot attacked the pilot and tried to crash the plane.

It will become clearer when they’ve had a chance to interview the witnesses. It must have been terrifying.

Viviennemary · 30/09/2026 16:58

It's enough to put you off flying. At least we must be thankful nobody was killed. It's definitely terrorism.

Most likely, its someone doing something in the service of their God.

Funny sort of god wanting to kill hundreds of innocent people !

Much more likely just an inadequate murderous nut-job with a grudge, dressing it up as something religious.

Thank goodness they landed safely. I hope the injured pilot recovers quickly.

Not sure about this. But yes not great.

Just saw a video, how terrifying for those poor people. It made me a bit teary to imagine how they were feeling.

Anne thread has countered this with better information

Those who choose to destroy innocent lives are not Christian, Muslim or any other religion. They are not worshipping God, Allah or any other deity. Those who worship power and death are Satanists, whatever they claim.

You sound like you might be a Christian.

People have been killing other people in the name of God since humans came up with the idea of God. Muslims and Christians mainly. Maybe you personally wouldn't do it yourself but you most definitely don't speak for your co religeonists. Sorry, I understand that hurts.

That's increadibly insulting. I know a few satanists, none of them woukd ever do anything like this. Don't try to pawn evil done in the name of one religion on to another.

Petrine · 30/09/2026 17:29

The co-pilot stabbed the pilot, not vice versa.

pavillion1 · 30/09/2026 17:36

I really wish people would stop stabbing each other

OnePeppyFatball · 30/09/2026 17:39

From FlyDubai

At this early stage, the underlying reasons and motives behind this event are unknown and remain subject to a formal investigation. We urge all parties to refrain from premature speculation while authorities gather the facts.

You should learn about Satanism. True Satanists do lots of charity work, they don’t ’worship The devil’ and do evil things. On the other hand, there have been many other evil acts committed under the main five religions and ALL have supported paedophilia at some point in their history.

You must be very naive.

Or a Muslim or Jew or Hindu or Sikh or Buddhist or atheist!

My main belief is that people - usually evil men- will use religion or anything else they can - to assume power and seek to justify their abuse of and interference with the lives of others. In my view no true believer in any of the mainstream religions - all of which strangely share the tenet that you recognise the spirit by its fruits - could possibly engage in activities designed to bring about the death of innocents.

Yes, it’s indisputable that many have claimed historically and in current times that they are acting in the name of (x) deity in committing atrocities. By so acting, they demonstrate precisely the opposite.

EvelynBeatrice · 30/09/2026 18:41

You are quite right. I am entirely ignorant of what avowed satanists believe (outside the pages of lurid fiction). If they are indeed dedicated to good works for the benefit of humanity and law abiding peaceful souls, then I have done them an injustice!

Charlemagne and Saladin strongly disagree with you.

Honestly, this kind of thing is what annoys me most about religion. You speak as if what you say is the only truth possible, as if you have total moral clarity because of the strengths of your beliefs.

Many, many have killed in the name of their Gods. Your do not speak for anyone other than yourself.

BobbiBiscuits · 30/09/2026 19:43

Looks like it's yet another jihadi / Islamic terrorist attack. Thwarted - this time, thank goodness. What a religion. Of peace apparently . Yeah ok. 75% of uk security services effort goes towards Islamic terrorism prevention. So glad the latest ones are alive to suffer consequences of their actions. Not quite the virgins they thought they'd be with right now.

KatiePricesKnickers · 30/09/2026 21:13

Latest info is co-pilot/terrorist was an Omani jihadist. Pilot is an Indian National.

PleaseDontTreadOnTheDaisies · 30/09/2026 22:35

From what I'm hearing/reading this evening, the pilot and many of the passengers were absolute heroes.
