Can Jobcentre remove certain jobs from my work search commitments?

Can I have a certain type of work removed from my work search commitments?

I’m being pushed into applying for care assistance jobs and this is something I am not prepared to do. I have explained to my work coach but they are saying I have to take their recommendation to start applying for these types of jobs as well as I’ve not been successful so far and need to widen my job searches.

i have requested a GP letter detailing why I can’t do this type of work (severe sensory issues and phobias due to autism) and I’m hoping that will be enough?

Has anyone else been through this ? I feel they aren’t being understanding at all. I have limitations and I’m trying my best but there are some things I just can’t do, or do they just expect me to apply with no intention of doing it to fill the work search hours ? But if I was offered a job and declined I would be sanctioned ?

As others have said, some care work doesn't involve personal care. I used to be a home help and all that i needed to do was a quick visit to make sure they had meals ready and do a bit of light housework like washing up and sometimes i would go and get newspapers for them. I actually really enjoyed it.

Can I ask why everyone on this thread is not considering that op has a diagnosed disability at which there are many mitigating reasons why she may struggle with a care role. She has said she is willing to try and look for jobs in other sectors.

Or is this a disability bashing post - because - "Physical disabilities would be different"

Op put on your journal you want to speak to the disability team
Op reach out to access to work
Op look into claiming pip

Also each of these are links for different things you might want to sit down with and look at.

Also with your diagnosis have you sat and looked at your exceptional talents, and your challenges - it's called a spiky profile - and since plotting mine I have been able to best understand my autism and then i can better explain it to others or use my strengths when considering what I can do and know exactly my challenges in what i wont be able to do.

I have multiple hernias. Have had 3 repairs in the past and waiting for more and have been told not to do certain things such as lifting / manual work.

Well that in itself means you can't do care work. I've been caring for my bedbound DH for years and frankly although I do much of the care myself, I don't want people coming in whose health problems make them less able to do tasks than me (60 odd, heart condition, awaiting surgery but my responsibility and choice)

Get a letter from your GP reinforcing that you are not physically able to do such tasks, because in the world of care you will be expected to.

Our carers are wonderful almost invariably and I was glad to hear Andy Burnham talk in his interview this morning about making sure they are valued as they deserve.
