Boiled eggs and buppy soldiers

Does anyone else say buppy soldiers? It’s what everyone said when I was a kid but I haven’t heard it for years. My boyfriend from near Oxford had no clue what I was making to dip into my eggs

I assume it comes from bap as in bacon bap, which I think I’ve heard called a bacon bappy??

Chunky egg and soldiers in Newcastle

Not come across "chunky egg".

I was brought up in the Midlands and we sometimes called eggs "chuckie eggs". We did say a "boiled egg and soldiers" where the "soldiers" could be toast or bread. My late aunt's children, also Midlands, used "bread and buppy" but we did not. I always assumed the "buppy" meant the butter.

Buppy was bread and milk when I grew up in the olden days. Like sloppy porridge.

Bread and milk was called "bread and slop" in the rural Midlands, in the 1920s.

Either boiled eggs and soldiers, or dippy eggs and soldiers but I might have adopted that from an old housemate.

And we used to let the witches out, so a bit of a hybrid of fairies and witch boats!

Oh yes I’ve heard of chuckie eggs! I thought they were chopped up eggs in the shell?
