Can you wear this to Aqua Aerobics

I am keen to try aqua aerobics (I last did it years ago!). Very self conscious wearing a swim suit. Do you think one of these would be suitable?

I know a lot of leisure centres (including mine) are trying to be more flexible with their swimwear policy to be more inclusive. The policy mentions shorts/leggings and swim dresses. TIA

That was my instant reaction. It won't be comfortable and the leg part will ride up because it has no cling.

If you're going to buy something with a bit more cover, I'd choose something with stretch shorts. The one you're looking at isn't really designed for swimming, OP.

I go to aqua classes and think it would be fine, provided that it is supportive enough.

My classes are mainly women of a certain age (at 65 I think of myself as one of the younger ones) and we are a variety of shapes and sizes. No-one cares what size anyone is.

I do agree with others about the need for good support - especially for larger-breasted women. There’s a lot of jumping about involved!

I do aqua and I wouldn't wear this because the bottom part is going to keep floating up as you move.

I wore a seperate tankini type set a few times and the bottom is a skorts type skirt. It's very annoying as it you move up and down in the water it floats up. I ended up tucking it in the pants part during the class.

Rather look for a all in one cycling shorts style. Or a normal swimsuit. With a Racerback so you can get if off easier when it's wet.

It does look quite flappy though. I’d imagine it will restrict your movement a tad.

Yep I was going to say that while I think it's really cute, it will still cling when wet, might be irritating when doing exercises, and if you're self conscious about curves it might give you a bulkier shape with all the fabric!

I wear a full suit that covers my arms completely and goes down to my knees to cover weight loss loose skin.

Decathlon have an aqua fitness section on their website with long sleeves, long legs and a swim bra which I quite like..

Yes and agree about ensuring support. Though if anyone cares about how you look in swimsuits they should not be there.

You could definitely wear that or the following pic but far more people will look at you if you're wearing thise then if you're wearing a swimsuit. All of us doing aqua pretty much are old overweight struggling just trying to make it through the class smiling and chatting. None of us are looking at each other going oh my god she looks awful in a swimsuit. The average age in aqua class is between 60 and 70 you'll get a few young ones but in my 35 years of experience both teaching and doing aqua it's one of the least judgmental nicest most welcoming classes you can do. Anyone wearing outfits will garner more attention than someone wearing a normal swimsuit I generally wear a tankini type thing with a sports bra under because I've got a double g cup. Any swimwear goes but looking like you're gonna swim the channel is really not necessary

I’m an aqua aerobics instructor. As long as the suit isn’t likely to get trapped along the filters along the edge of the pool it should be fine. What I would check with any swimwear is chest support as some classes can include a bit of jumping around in the water so support (I have even worn a sports bra under swimwear when I’ve been a participant in an aqua class) is a good idea.
Generally everyone should be encouraged and feel comfortable to attend these classes so go with that. I hope you enjoy the class.

If it’s swimwear why would you not be allowed to wear it? I wear a cheap boyleg swimsuit from sports direct for swimming etc, it never crossed my mind it might not be allowed

I Attend aqua classes twice a week and have one of these. Good coverage and doesn’t float up in the water.

It looks nice but might move around during vigorous exercise and become uncomfortable.

@ReturnToGym , in my aqua-aerobics class there are women of all shapes and sizes and people wear regular swimsuits. It's a women-only class.
Nobody looks at each other, they watch the instructor. We chat in the changing room afterwards with clothes on.

I thought places only had rules to avoid people wearing outside stuff in a pool for hygiene reasons (eg men wearing shorts they'd worn all day, or women in leggings and Tshirts they'd spent the day in), or for safety/respect reasons? People wear stuff like that are ours, and they have aqua classes.

I don't attend Aqua Aerobics myself, but our gym cafe overlooks the swimming pool where the class takes place and many of the women wear that type of outfit. (All ages.)

My one tip from having gone to one class recently is to wear something supportive - I wore my usual speedo and bounced too much! The others wore all sorts including a full coverage full length leggings swimsuit.

Most swimming pools say what is ok or not ok modest swimwear like a full cat suit type thing is allowed

You probably don't want anything loose that will flap around when you're jumping about.
Other than that, anything is fine. Lots of people at mine wear swim leggings.
