Any others anxious about GCSE results tomorrow?

DS worked so hard but I’m still anxiously awaiting the results tomorrow. I know it’s not the end of the world if he fails but he has such a clear idea of his future and this would knock his confidence badly.

Anyone else want to wait it out with me?

ill wait with you. DD gets hers tomorrow. I’m not anxious about the results, she’s a smart kid she’s probably done really well.

im anxious that she won’t have done well enough by her own standards…

MrsMcNallysMaureen · 19/08/2026 21:03

Hello, I am not anxious but DD is. I've never seen her like this. Mostly, it is just about maths - it's her weakest subject but she has to get a 5 to get into her chosen 6th form. I don't remember this much stress about mine. Good luck to them all.

Smartiepants79 · 19/08/2026 21:06

Me, really struggling with how anxious about it I am! She doesn’t seem to be but I’m so worried she is going to be disappointed.

I'm so anxious, I just really want to know so then we can know what we need to do. I hope it's all ok but English. Is touch and go.

bowchicawowwow · 19/08/2026 21:13

I’m a bit anxious. DS2 has SEN and an EHCP in place. We have also paid for a tutor to help with his maths. I really hope he gets what he needs to join 6th form as he has worked so hard.

LyndaSnellsSniff · 19/08/2026 21:15

I'm horribly anxious. DS has been away on holiday for a week so hasn't had time to get nervous at home, which is a very good thing.

Tickingcrocodile · 19/08/2026 21:16

Yes, my DD has had an awful time with mental and physical health problems. She had the capability to do well but has missed so much school that she felt the exams went really badly. Nothing in place for September even though she has an EHCP. She did go in and sit her exams though so I'm proud of her for that. Hoping there are positive outcomes for all tomorrow.

MyGhastIsFlabbered · 19/08/2026 21:28

I’m glad I’m not the only one. I don’t care myself at all, but so anxious for his sake. And he’s with his dad tonight so I don’t even know how he’s feeling. I’m meeting him at the school tomorrow morning.

Yes me! Feels like we've been waiting ages.

Blankscreen · 19/08/2026 21:29

Yes I feel anxious. Ds has set himself such high expectations that even if he's done well he won't be happy
.

Appaloosa2000 · 19/08/2026 21:31

Exactly the same. Not saying a word of it to him though. But so nervous for him.

TheChosenTwo · 19/08/2026 21:33

Best of luck to everyone’s young people tomorrow. I’ve been here twice and will be here again in 2 years time but for now I’m keen to find out how my niece has got on. She’s most nervous about maths.

RVectensian · 19/08/2026 21:45

Mine is pretending not to be anxious, so we are all doing the same thing 😂I remember this so vividly.

CordeliaNaismithVorkosigan · 19/08/2026 21:51

Mine won’t let me go to the school with her tomorrow, so I’ll be at home biting my nails!

flippinnorastights · 19/08/2026 22:07

Our school don’t let them come in. They have to log on at 8am. It always crashes. Today has been hard as the schools got results today and it’s killing me that they know and we don’t

Wolfiefan · 19/08/2026 22:16

God yes! Only because DD worked her butt off and she has set herself her own targets. I have no doubt she will do well enough to stay on for a levels. But I hope she’s pleased with her results and feels like all the hard work has paid off. Good luck everyone!

ReadyShreddie · 19/08/2026 22:28

Same here. DD worried she messed up on some of the exams and needs certain grades for her new 6th form.
Best of luck to everyone, it will be a relief just to know at least!

Does it help to know that only the Head, exams officer and data manager know? And that they will have been looking at the whole cohort rather than one individual, so dont know your DC's results, either?

shellyleppard · 19/08/2026 22:33

I'm waiting nervously for my son. Good luck to all tomorrow x 🙏💐❤️

Captivatingcapybara · 19/08/2026 22:36

Yep, me too. DD has SEND and Pearson royally ballsed up the online maths and English paper 1 exams. Was a shitshow across the board. V worried as is she.

LooksLikeIPickedTheWrongWeekToQuitDrinking · 19/08/2026 22:46

DD very nervous… as am I!

She found all of her exams fine, but is panicking regardless!

WinterCarlisle · 19/08/2026 22:48

Worried and feeling like I won’t sleep. DS worked his butt off but has ADHD + ASD so that was a challenge. If it went on effort alone he deserves 9s but I honestly don’t know how he’ll have done,

I just want him to be happy with his results and to have the grades he needs for A Levels in the subjects he wants to do.

Solidarity to all of you and your DC ❤️

Flumposie3 · 20/08/2026 00:48

Probably won't get much sleep here tonight. As it is my daughter was awake until 4.30 am yesterday with worry. She has been off her food today. I teach at the school she goes to, but it feels very different when it's your own child getting results as opposed to pupils you teach.

VivienneDelacroix · 20/08/2026 00:54

My son should be fine getting into his choice of 6th form, but holds himself to a very high standard, so slightly nervous for him. He was very unwell all through Y8 and 9 and hospitalised for most of that time, so he's essentially only had 3 years at secondary school, so I'll be so proud whatever he gets.

Nickcaveinbrighton · 20/08/2026 05:15

I wasn't worried until I had a dream that DS didnt get good grades and was upset.
No more sleep for me!

I have put so much effort into taking the pressure off, that these results aren't the be all and end all of everything etc..... but its hard to undo all the expectation that gets built up.

I dont know how teachers live with the stress of results days every year!
