If you know the next lines, where did you grow up?

We did it all the time as children. It didnt make sense then. It doesnt make sense now.

It popped into my head and no one here knew what I was talking about with with the finger action. I grew up West Mids.

Open it up, and here’s the people [turn hands other way up and waggle fingers]

Liverpool

Rondayvu · 17/08/2026 15:09

EducatingArti · 17/08/2026 15:10

Open the doors and there's all the people.

Surrey/Gloucestershire but mother with W Yorks heritage

AnneLovesGilbert · 17/08/2026 15:10

South east but have foreign parents. My three year old is obsessed with it, always asking us to do it for him and he finally cracked how to do it himself this week!

DeftGoldHedgehog · 17/08/2026 15:10

Yes, we did that, and the parson bit. Manchester.

shrunkenhead · 17/08/2026 15:11

"Dearly beloved brethren, don't you think it's a sin that when we peel potatoes we throw away the skin? The skins will feed the pigs and the pigs feed you, dearly beloved brethren, don't you think it's true?"

MelOfTheRoses · 17/08/2026 15:11

Here's the lady's knives and forks
Here's the lady's table
Here's the lady's looking glass
And here's the baby's cradle.

Like the church & steeple, but I reverse.

MyDogClive · 17/08/2026 15:13

And here’s all the people. North West and Midlands.

Does anyone remember the one about showing your knickers to the football team? The 70’s really was a different world.

NorthernDancer · 17/08/2026 15:14

Look inside and see the people.

East Midlands

LumpyandBumps · 17/08/2026 15:18

Open the doors and there’s all the people - Essex

MyThreeWords · 17/08/2026 15:19

Could I ask about a different rhyme? Does anyone remember the tricksy and slightly unkind actions that went with the following:

Here's a tree in summer.
Here's a tree in winter.
Here's a bunch of flowers.
And here's the April showers!

OriginalSkang · 17/08/2026 15:20

Open the doors and here's all the people (north Essex)

It was definitely open the doors because you did a door opening thing with your thumbs

EducatingArti · 17/08/2026 15:21

Yes, while stripping the heads off wild grasses then flicking them at the other person.

somekindofdoughnut · 17/08/2026 15:21

I saw it on Playschool.

EmailsaysOOO · 17/08/2026 15:21

I remember doing that with a piece of grass that had gone to seed. At the end you threw the seeds over the other person's head!

DollopOfFun · 17/08/2026 14:53

Open the doors, and here's the people <wiggles fingers>

W Yorks

That's the one I know. Parents from NE and NW. Grew up mainly in the South.

Yes, while stripping the heads off wild grasses then flicking them at the other person.

Exactly that! Didn't the stripped seeds make a lovely bouquet.

As a hayfever sufferer I didn't appreciate the shower though.
