Am I the only person not to have a fan or changed duvet!

Yes it's been hot but I haven't got a fan in the house (or air con). I'm in South Wales so we've had it hot.
I still haven't changed from 9 tog duvets either!
We've managed the heat by ensuring curtains keep the heat out as the sun moved around the house and had a pretty good through breeze.
Yesterday was about the worst day but other than that we've coped.

After dealing with 45 degree heat in France, in a camper van with no air con in 2022 maybe I'm hardened to it!

No fan. Normal 10.5 tog duvet.
I have left the bedroom window open which, for me, is extreme.
Also, always wear PJs altho on some nights I may have left off the bottoms.
I don't actually understand this "I can't sleep" stuff - hot weather knocks me out, so I love the bedroom to be toasty and go out like a light - it's like falling asleep on your sun lounger on holiday.

I'm in London. Still have my duvet (same tog all year round), no fan. Warm but comfortable. Obviously the heat has caused many problems, but I have loved having such a long, hot summer. I'm not looking forward to socks again 😔.

I totally agree. It's been wonderful to have a proper summer.

It hasn't been hot in South Wales though OP so that would be why

What are you talking about?! It's been extremely hot here ( about 10 miles from Cardiff), it's been over 30 regularly and we've had it up to 35. If that's not hot I don't know what is. We've had one afternoon of showers in 6 weeks, much of my garden has dried to a crisp.
I now sleep just under a sheet and have a fan going all night.

No fan, no aircon and still have the duvet on. It was 36 here yesterday.

We keep the bedroom windows shut or DH wakes up when a mouse sneezes outside.

My husbands like this, 12 tog duvet no matter the weather, long sleeved pjs with the trousers tucked into his socks. We have aircon in our bedroom, so we have regular aircon wars, luckily he is an extremely deep sleeper so I just turn the temp down once he’s asleep.

Do you have sex with this man?

I've still got two jumpers on every day, and I have my electric blanket on every night - all night long.

West Coast of Scotland.

No way!! I’m in West Coast of Scotland and could t sleep last night with the heat. Actually woke up during the night and my pjs were damp with sweat!

Can’t believe you’re feeling it cold!!!

harveythehorse · 14/08/2026 23:33

Our house is old and is generally cold but it’s been stifling over these (many) heat waves - walking upstairs feels like entering a sauna. We have an old AC unit which cools our bedroom but it’s too noisy to run at night so a damp flannel on the chest & a fan it is. I can’t remember the last time I snuggled under a duvet and I cannot wait to do so again.

Also west coast of Scotland. There was one night recently that I didn't bother with my hot water bottle ...

What??? Where are you??? I’m in South east and it’s… 29

DH is the same.
He had his elderly mother living with him before we got married and the heating was always cranked right up.
Never goes out without a vest or jumper.
In Lincolnshire.

He is willing to take the pjs off for that, plus exercise keeps you nice and warm.
