How does this Mumsnet thingy function

I'm fairly new on here and something has me scratching my head.
An individual comes on here with a AIBU etc.
They state their case and then often seem to just drop off the radar.
Hundreds and hundreds of replies are posted, some really dumb, some clever and well thought out.
But it seems like a sort of black hole where everyone just says their piece and moves on.
Few comment on other posts and often the original poster never comments.
500+ bits of advice and not so much as a squeak.
Surely there cones a point where is simply nothing left to say that has not already been said. Why waste your time commenting when no one is taking a blind bit of notice.
Ps. I read most of the postings on here just to make myself feel I am not alone in life's frustrations, but we are really when the conversation turns one sided.

What do you mean ? I posted this last night late, and could not wait to see if anyone had replied.
You could have mentioned this in your OP. It's a bit strange to moan about thread-starters disappearing off ... and then do the exact same yourself. I assumed the thread was a piss-take.

Yup.

I Just filter it to read OPs post only and if they haven’t been back but there are loads of comments, I don’t bother reading the thread.

I know you are trying to be funny but you missed the mark there.
Still, thanks for replying.

You posted at 12.45 Sunday lunchtime and then came back at 8am Monday morning. All the times are there in black and white. This is a UK site started in the UK by British people and it is generally assumed you are in the UK unless you say otherwise.

No you didn’t.

It's the first thing I did this morning was come back on here.

Yes you did.

I’ve seen times where someone has started a thread and written ‘I’m just going to work so I’ll be back this evening’ or similar and that’s fine. But to start a thread about posters not coming back, and then not coming back for 20 hours is just silly.

I notice you only picked up a couple of the ‘sensible’ replies too despite there being lots. So I can add ‘have you read the thread?’. That shit is also very annoying.

You only got comments pointing these things out because you posted and didn't come back to your thread. I was ready to have a conversation about it.

I would love to hear some of the outcomes. What decision did they come to ect

Have you cottoned onto the posters who start fighting amongst themselves on someone else’s thread ? Totally irrelevant at times to the original question.

It's the abbreviations that piss me off. Some are easy to work out like DH, DS/DD but some are so convoluted that I just skip the thread. Perhaps a glossary pinned to the top of the site could be provided?

OP. What you need to do is stay off AIBU but use the interest boards, whether that is pets, education, style and beauty, feminism, TV or whatever. They tend to have a very different feel - AIBU is an outlier.
