Favourite song with whistling

I love a bit of whistling as it always reminds me of my Grandpa who was a big whistler

Oh yes - that’s quite new and I didn’t realise it was from the new Top Gun film. Doesn’t seem to go!

Not a song as such, but the theme music for a late 70s/early 80s drama serial called Flambards. I loved the music so much as a kid I even bought the soundtrack LP from John Menzies 😂 The theme is built around a whistled refrain, and it's quite cheery but oddly haunting too. I loved that series, and the books it was based on.

Over time the album got scratched and lost. Years later, after the Internet had been around for a while, I discovered the composer had his own website and was self-producing CD copies of the soundtrack. So I sent off for one and still play it from time to time. It's like a time machine - I must've been 12 or 13 when it first came on TV.

Oh my goodness !! I was sitting here thinking Flambards but though no one else will know what the hell i was on about 😀

I was a little younger, i think, too young to watch it properly, but ADORED that theme tune. It was about horses wasnt it? Flambards? Was there a horse galloping while the theme tune played?

Another really good haunting theme tune from around that time was the one with the silhouette of a naked lady dancing. It was a thriller/horror series. Again i didn't watch it but remember loving the tune. I'll try and google the name of it ...

I like a song with a saxaphone myself.

Huh? There’s definitively no whistling in Blue Monday! In fact if there was a song that the antithesis of a song that had whistling in it Blie Monday would be it.

This version of Sade's No Ordinary Love from someone called Ben Official has a wonderful bit of whistling. The whole rendition is quite addictive. One of those songs you'd think couldn't be improved upon..

The milkman always whistled at around 6 am! Whatever was in the charts. You don’t hear it now with anyone.
