Following on from the mum thread who is the best fictional dad. I’m going for Atticus Finch from Mocking bird, and Bill Smugs from Enid Blyton Adventure Series.

Mr Sterling, Peter's dad from the Lone Piners. Quiet, strong when he needed to be and stood by his morals, but knew when it was right to let Peter go with friends.

Otherwise I'd agree with Bill Smugs/Cunningham - as long as he stuck around long enough!

I agree with Atticus Finch, Pa Ingalls, Daddy Pig and Danny's Dad from Danny Champion of the World.

(Edited to add I know Pa wasn't fictional, but he was somewhat fictionalised.)

Pop Larkin is a great character but most of his doings.......arent legal! I dont think he sets a great example to his children.

As a child I always thought Sara Crewe's dad from A Little Princess was so, so lovely.

However, as an adult I cannot comprehend how he went off to war with absolutely no plan for her should he die, when they literally had no living relatives! Also that headmistress was a witch but he really shouldn't have undermined her about Sara's locket in front of the whole class. Totally gave Sara a marked card there.
