I've just finished my first cuppa of the day, sitting with dd2, in the conservatory. Girl cat's curled up on one of the chairs in here, boy wandered off shouting & hasn't been back. Dd2's been up ages & has done the majority of the pottering jobs I would have done when I got up.

She's off out with her friends today to a witchy market in town & then for food. Her friend also wants to head to one of the yarn shops in town so I've placed my order too 🤣. I'm not sure where they'll eat - probably Maccies.

I have no idea if dd1 wants to do anything today - she did a shift in London yesterday, & crashed through the door around 1am, so is currently still sleeping.

If not, I'll just potter here. There's plenty to be done & I have a crochet project to crack on with that I haven't started yet.

We're having lemon & herb prawns for tea - not sure what with yet - since dd2 doesn't like prawns. I might wander to Lidl for a bottle of something to accompany them 🍷.

This evening I'll read - I picked out a new book from my tbr, the other day, but haven't started yet. I expect the girls will watch some more of The Rookie - they'd got as far as season 6 last time I asked!

What about all of you? 🙂

Good morning lucysmam and others. I had 2 coffees earlier, sorted the washing out and put the sheets in. Then went to Aldi. It's had a rejig which meant it took longer to get round(and I spent more). Home again to put on the tumble dryer, put the shopping away. I've just had 2 slices of toast and a cup of tea. In a bit, I'll begin the housework then I want to make raspberry jam. Enjoy your day all.

Morning @lucysmam
Your prawns sound delicious after a nice chilled day.
I just finishing breakfast, need to do a bit of a tidy before my volunteering at 1. Should be home by 5, possibly fish pie for tea, and then maybe a film with DH.
Happy August 😊

SilverBlue4 · 01/08/2026 10:06

I ended up going back to sleep after my neighbour woke me up fixing a car directly outside my window before 8 am 🙄

My DS who's just finished his A levels has started sleeping in til 9:30 most days after being a 6:30am wake up person for his entire life (well - 5am as a baby!) and I am finding it really strange! I am having a lazy day today and then out and about tomorrow visiting friends and taking my DS to practice parking in my car (he has just passed his test but wants to make sure what he was taught still works in a different car to his instructors!)

I am going to watch some netflix if I can find anything decent, and try not to think too much about A level results day 😩

Morning @lucysmam and the Saturday crew. I was up early and at my computer already because I was due to have a Zoom catch up with a friend in another country but she had last minute plan changes. We've rescheduled it for tomorrow morning. I've had a bit of breakfast and will sort dirty laundry into piles to start our epic washing session this weekend as well as strip the bed. I'll put a wash on before leaving to attend our town's annual agricultural show. I can't wait to see the coos and eat loads of food.

After coming home, I'll do some catch up with more friends over Zoom then try to unfuck our habitat along with OH. We've both had incredibly busy weeks and have let the house go to ruin. We need to do the said laundry, take out recycling and trash, clean the bathrooms and kitchen, etc. Hopefully we can get the bulk of it done so we can relax tomorrow.

Dinner tonight will be thin steaks with diced and roasted rosemary potatoes, sautéed mushrooms and zucchini. Maybe I'll visit M & S for a dessert of some sort. Have a lovely day everyone!

Good morning @lucysmamand everyone else. Ive just had my first coffee the dc are all still asleep/ in bed. We have a lovely sport free weekend which happens v v rarely with our gang.

We have hired a dog field with a lake for an hour this afternoon so will take kids and dogs there. We have two very energetic staffies with no brakes so we have to be careful about letting them off lead without other people around as they could very easily knock someone over when they are in full on play mode and understandably some people aren’t keen on four stone of Stafford bull terrier flying towards them.

im going to clear out one of the kids bedrooms today. Im using the summer holidays to do some serious clearing out and getting organised. We are having a new kitchen and extension at the end of the month and the idea is already making me feel very anxious!

I also need to begin the quest for school trousers that will fit Ds. He is very tall and slim and it’s not an easy task!

ShipshapeShore · 01/08/2026 10:16

Congratulations @Rainbow1235 what lovely news. I love his name.

I'm tidying up the front of the house today. It's a largish stoned driveway with lots of shrubs, now with weeds and dead poppies and it looks very unkempt.

Food festival later with the DC which I'm sure will cost me a small fortune!

I want to do more reading too, I'm halfway through Atmosphere currently. I might pick up my knitting too. I started a chunky cocoon cardigan aaaaages ago and it would be quite nice to have it for this Autumn!

rivalsbinge · 01/08/2026 10:24

@troppibambini6oh I wish there was a paddock with a lake near us that sounds like bliss for the dogs!

I’ve been up since 8 put 2 loads of washing on and I’m sat outside with my coffee and Merlin bird app I only discovered the app yesterday after a radio 2 slot and it’s fab, it picks up all the birdsong around you and identifies the birds and it appears I have so far 18 different species tweeting away.

We have a catch up this evening with friends at a local pub, I’ve decided to drive so looking forward to some good live music and catching up.

OchreSwan · 01/08/2026 10:24

Morning all, that sounds like a lovely relaxing day @lucysmam.

I’ve been up for a while, had a coffee and toast then out for a 5k run. Back home, everything shower, and now just having a sit for 10 minutes with my second coffee.

Need to get going shortly as heading over to spend the rest of the weekend with family. Absolutely thrilled to be escaping the city for the countryside! Hoping for a really relaxed weekend in the garden, country walks and maybe a dip in the local swimming spot, then a barbecue this evening.

Vitrolinsanity · 01/08/2026 10:24

I have a consultation at 2pm to check an odd mark on my leg. I’m sitting with Ddog at the moment trying not to worry, but am clock-watching like a nutter.

tinytemper66 · 01/08/2026 10:28

Have been to fat club. Having a cuppa before tackling my ironing pile.

Mydogisagentleman · 01/08/2026 10:33

Been at work for 3 hours, now visiting the world's laziest man.
Took the dog out at 06.00 and met some young people coming home from a night out. They commented on how cold it was.
My inner granny thought about the wisdom of a coat.

Tablo · 01/08/2026 10:33

Morning @lucysmam I am basking in having both of our grown up DCs at home. DS came home last night as he, DD and DH are going to the cinema later. I haven’t seen him since end of May (he lives 90 minutes away and usually works weeekends) so I’m making the most of it. DD Is staying for a few months before moving away so drinking her in as She and I are going on a shopping day out tomorrow.

Having said that, they’ll all be going out soon and I have no plans other than reading really.

Probably something quick and easy for dinner.

FayKnights · 01/08/2026 10:36

Morning @lucysmam and the Saturday Gang

Lovely to hear scrumptious baby news @Rainbow1235 congratulations.

Breakfast done and dusted, and will get myself ready to take the dogs to the woods next.

I’ve booked DH in for a hearing test later, he keeps putting it off as I think he knows it’s inevitable that he might need hearing aids, but I feel sorry for him missing out when our boys are all chit chatting and he struggles to keep up.

Then off to see a friends band play later! All of this will be interspersed with food and drinks 😁

@rivalsbinge the Merlin App is ace! Dog walk takes twice as long as I keep stopping. I want to get binoculars too.

Have a great day all!!

Simonjt · 01/08/2026 10:37

Good morning, thats is lovely news @Rainbow1235

I’ve had a gym session with my hyrox doubles partner today, he is younger than me and bloody hell it shows, I thought I was going to die.

School starts soon here so today we’re going to buy school clothes, shoes and bags for both the kids. We don’t have uniform here, but we tend to buy school specific clothes as its just easier.

Have a nice saturday

This is like my DD who is 14. She has always been an early riser and still is. While I hear about other teenagers not getting up until midday, she gets up before me on weekends😀. Good luck for A level results day!

It’s my birthday today so DD, my Mum and me are off out for a fancy pub lunch. Very much looking forward to it and need to get my act together as we’re leaving very shortly!!

Hope all have lovely Saturdays🙂.

Thislittlekitten · 01/08/2026 10:54

Morning Saturday Crew

I had a terrible sleep so had a wee lie in. Just had dog out for a walk and DH is cooking us all some breakfast.

We are going to a garden centre to pick some plants and compost up and prob have a wee coffee. Then back home for a big clean. I have piles of ironing to do and work for an essay I’m working on that I’ve been avoiding.

DD has friends coming for a sleepover tonight. DH and DS are going to the cinema. I’ll read or walk the dog later while they are all busy.

Not sure about tea. I’ve a load of pizzas for the kids. Not sure about us.

lucysmam · 01/08/2026 11:11

Happy birthday @Topsy44 🥳.

We're travelling back on the train from our 2 week holiday in Pembrokeshire. The first train of 3 is behaving itself so far.

heroofalexandria · 01/08/2026 11:40

Morning (only just!) we had an early start for DD’s toddler football class which I always find hysterical it’s so chaotic. Back for snacks and reading books and now DD is having a contact nap which means I get some downtime which is lovely.

DW is sorting out upstairs. We got back from a camping trip on Tuesday and still haven’t fully unpacked. Later I need to go in the loft to find the baby clothes I intend to sell on vinted and then we might visit the park with DD’s glider plane.

DinoLil · 01/08/2026 11:48

Morning!
I've been up since 4am and my flipping illness is enough to finish me off.
So many things I want to do!

JacknDiane · 01/08/2026 12:43

Morning ish all

Am being a lazy sod and still in bed. Need to get shifted.

Eating out for dinner, hopefully.

Enjoy your prawns @lucysmam

InglouriousBasterd · 01/08/2026 14:35

Afternoon all!

i look forward to this thread every week and rarely post, I’m determined to start!

Went to Pilates this morning and then came back and crashed a bit - I’ve just started a new med and it’s wiped me out. Hoping it’s temporary. I’m having a mini tidy up (big clean tomorrow) and off to th cinema to see Spider-Man in a bit, taking a hot chocolate with me!

Quiet evening with DD and maybe a film? And whatever we can find in the fridge. It’s still bloody hot here!

DilemmaDelilah · 01/08/2026 15:24

Good afternoon @lucysmam and everyone!

I'm late today because I had a busy morning... and then a busy afternoon! I've been putting loads of stuff on Vinted so I had a couple of things to package up, then Mr Dilemma was going to the post office to send them (they take everything but In Post) and I went with him so that I got a bit of an outing...

We didn't just go to the post office, he suggested going to the local (expensive but very nice) garden centre... but just as we were nearly there he decided he would rather go to Tesco in the next town. Since we needed more milk and he wanted some full fat cheese we went there (we do have a big Tesco where we live, as well as Sainsburys, Morrison's and Waitrose) and had an enormously fattening lunch of macaroni cheese, before picking up a pile of yellow stickered ready-meals for him. There wasn't anything I liked.

As we were walking out he spotted a pile of books by an author I like on a charity bookshelf, so he bought those for me.

Them when we got back I had a pile of Vinted admin to do - answering queries, measuring things, and packaging up 3 more parcels - which Mr Dilemma has taken down to our very local shop to send.

I am feeling VERY full after my lunch, so I'm not going to have a lot to eat this evening. We have picked a few cherry tomatoes out of the garden, so so I will probably have those with something. Mr Dilemma will probably have his yellow-stickered sweet and sour chicken, followed by a yellow-stickered custard tart. He got very excited when he saw those 😁.

I'm now about to check Vinted again to see if I need to do anything. Mr Dilemma is going up for a nap. I have had a few bad nights so I'm trying not to have a nap today.
