Threads like this always make me think the OP is trying to work out someone's username! Not you particularly, just these kind of threads in general

Noshadowsinthedarkness · Yesterday 20:28

Why don’t you start by telling us what you study OP?

Sure, I study alcohol and substance misuse and mental health. It’s very interesting. I’m just trying to work out whether to work in a hospital setting once qualified or maybe more a school setting giving drug safety talks etc.

edited for spelling mistake

I'm studying for an MSc and I work part time for the probation service in a prison.
In my spare time I'm a single mum to 4 children (2 are adults)

Retired nurse but I now work as an exams invigilator.

I do information security and AI risk assessments on suppliers for a massive company. They are exceptionally ethically driven and excellent to work for.

prior to this, I have a degree and pgce and taught maths in a prison. Then I left and did school admin, then worked as a data system officer for a charity.

I have had a lot of jobs , this is my 10th in 15 years but I hope this organisation will be the place I stay til I retire

I work for the local authority in the statutory send service. Previously I was a primary school teacher for 15 years (5 of those as sendco).

Reached complete burn out last year. Left with no job to go too.

I now work from home, prioritise my own kids and have the best work life balance I've ever had.

I'm in a bit of a cross roads in my career wondering whether to retrain but stay with children's services or climb the ladder with in the service I'm in now.

Zero plans to ever return to teaching! Even though I took a 10k pay drop. Its barely noticoable after tax, pension and student loan deductions have reduced. School holidays... don't miss then either, I've realised they were needed to recover from the stress of school!

I teach fitness classes for 15 hours a week and Age UK Home Help 6/7 hours a week.

Have worked in the Health Sercive for nearly 30 years, had a good few roles of different types, initially started as admin, and worked my way up into Senior Management over a few different departments. Now work as an investigator into misconduct and abuse within the health service. It has not been easy, and this current role is tough, not particularly liked by staff shall we say!! But it doesnt bother me! Good luck with your studies OP.

Me too. I work in a community setting within an opiate team. I absolutely love my job. The caseloads are high, the pay isn’t great and the work brings me to my knees at times, however the feeling of knowing you have helped someone no matter in what small way when they are often at their lowest makes it all worth it.

In a recovery service, I work on the counselling side rather than clinical

I could have written this, except that I’m a hybrid worker instead of fully wfh. Teaching just about killed me.

I’d like to do this one day! I know I’d have to go back to uni but I have a fair few years of working left in me! 😆
