My sport rowing. Everyone thinks im a weirdo for early starts at weekends for training.

Rowing sounds great. I watched the Boat Race and was in awe.

aliasfrog · 04/07/2026 14:14

I like silence better than any noise 🔕 😌

Its the final day of Henely Royal Regatta today. Top world class racing on offer. Spent the last four days there and I am teeny bit hungover now.

i have my partner cut my hair and am not really bothered if it comes out a bit raggedy- he only knows one style, and sometimes it works, sometimes not. I dont have mirrors in the house, and use a little tooth mirror if i need to see something/apply eyedrops etc

StrangeGree · 05/07/2026 10:38

I only watch retro tV programmes and movies, I got fed up of the decade of media so now I plunder the past.

lljkk · 05/07/2026 11:11

Is it niche to not know what niche means? 😘
Things that make me unusual ( for my age & sex) are my hobbies & I don't have a TV or any streaming service.

LlynTegid · 05/07/2026 11:14

Probably some of the languages I can speak a bit of- not just Cymraeg.

palron · 05/07/2026 11:26

I travel all over Europe to see Roman architectural sites. I've seen all the British ones by now. Niche? Maybe not, but since no one else is interested in this, I go on my own, which is probably best for everyone!

Bjorkdidit · 05/07/2026 11:26

I am morally opposed to Uber, Deliveroo and Just Eat so will never use them.

I do a very niche water based hobby.

I am not vegetarian but will eat meals without meat because I consider them to be normal food that can be eaten without needing to make an issue about it. The colleagues who will watch me have spinach and ricotta cannelloni for dinner and then bacon black pudding for breakfast the next day cannot get their heads around this.

ZenNudist · 05/07/2026 11:28

I'm a practicing Catholic.

I would say I'd come with you but we are probably both happy in our own company. I have probably seen most of the ratty Roman era piles of stone in southern Spain.

I also work 4 days a week and a few times a year go on extreme day trips on my non working days (mid week flights can be very cheap).

The next day at work someone might ask if I had a good day off where I might drop in that yes, I went to Oslo yesterday.

I have never had any takeaway food delivered either!

This is inspiring! Oslo as a day trip! Love this idea!

I get this one too. People seem genuinely baffled that I holiday in this country because I LIKE it and I don't feel that I am missing out by not spending a week on a 40C beach in Greece.

I am the same! People at work ask me every year if I am going away and then look at me in pity when I say nope 😂

The funny thing is, they invariably come back from every holiday abroad moaning about it- how much it cost and how they'll be paying off the credit card for months, how the weather let them down, how the food was awful, how unfriendly the locals were etc

It makes me chuckle because its like they seem to think happiness is impossible without a week in Spain

Sgtmajormummy · 05/07/2026 11:39

Nothing niche about me! I’m interested and curious about everything, have a good memory for facts but I’m too easily distracted to get in very deep.
It means I can strike up an informed conversation with most people and satisfy my curiosity just a step further. Oiling the wheels of society.

Specialist subject on Mastermind?
The life and works of James Joyce or The Industrial Revolution.

Well you could also say that about holidays in the UK, especially the weather, which as an outdoorsy person, is the most off-putting part of holidaying in the UK. Yes I know you can wear better clothing but wind and pissing rain in summer gets tired after a while. Plus the high cost and inflexiblity of most public transport.

Gingercatlover · 05/07/2026 11:40

Don’t watch TV.

Another Roman site lover, I love it! Most recent was to Ostia Antica, one of the best yet, and I obviously had a gander around Rome itself while there. Next up is Sicily. When the heat dies down obv.

I'm an old fossil now, nearly as old as the Roman stuff ha ha, but I'd manage a day trip somewhere, however, I would need a month to recover. 😊

TheeNotoriousPIG · 05/07/2026 12:24

I am permanently and cheerfully single.

I am a female farm worker, so yes, I can drive tractors. It's not much different to driving a car, except that I can see over the bonnet!

My holidays are spent in the UK. I like to visit eco-villages and small islands.

I take classes in all kinds of interesting (to me) and "unusual" things, like trapeze, aerial silks, beekeeping and carriage driving.

I prefer to write with fountain pens. A bonus of this is that nobody steals them from work (unlike with the biros and rollerball pens).

I do not own a television.

I can knit, shear sheep, and I am learning to spin wool.

I would like to be self-sufficient one day. I just need to get better at gardening and growing things in the meantime!

FusionChefGeoff · 05/07/2026 14:04

I use a fountain pen

estrogone · 05/07/2026 14:19

I have often been called quirky.

I had a hen called Dave.
I sit on my haunches on my office chair (get odd looks) - ADHD/Autism.
I dont own a car (live in Australia - so this is considered unusual).
I have only ever had one permanent job in my life (brief 14 month stint). The rest of the time I have been self employed.
I like going to the office - its a 3 min walk from home.

UnderThePressure · 05/07/2026 14:32

I go paranormal investigating a few times a year. Mostly it's wandering round old, beautiful and sometimes creepy buildings in the dark, it's really interesting!
I hate being in open water, even swimming pools and baths give me anxiety.
I collect vinyl and memorabilia but only for two bands, and Steiff toys.
