What vitamins and supplements do you take, and do they help?

I'm interested in what vitamins and supplements people are taking as I am keen to medicalise myself to better health.....

I currently take a multi vit with iron daily, and an extra iron tablet 2x a week for chronic low iron with an extra vitamin c tablet. A daily menopause vitamin which is probably the same as the multivitamin... Turmeric capsule daily for anti-inflammatory benefits, vegan collagen (am vegetarian) to hold back the ravages of time and glucosamine for my ancient bones.

I used to drink apple cider vinegar with the mother for unknown reasons but keep forgetting and now can't find the bottle.

I've a friend who takes beetroot tablets for weight loss.

I have a pharmacist friend who scoffs at all this as well but even if it's all a placebo it's working??!

What do you take and why. And is it working?? Or all in our heads......

My husband takes a few supplements every day, and i think it’s a waste of money.
He reckons they help.

sakura06 · 29/06/2026 22:16

Multivitamin and Vitamin C. Vitamin C definitely helps. I forgot last week and now I have mouth ulcers.

Vitamin D for lack of sun, boots or supermarket multi vitamin and floradix iron tablets. Vitamin c and zinc, fizzy at first sign of cold/flu. A chemist recommended the latter to me, it works.

I always eat an orange in the evenings, no idea if it helps but I hope so, plus it has fibre I think.

Vitamin D
Turmeric
Magnesium (I'd swear I'm sleeping better)

You should have a blood test and only take supplements advised by your GP.

Oil of evening primrose with starflower. Keeps my PMS under control and makes me feel happier. I have been taking it daily for about 10 years. I tried to come off it 3 times and the change in my mood was too much.

SkippitySkoppity · 29/06/2026 23:33

Iron Bisglycinate, Vit C, Vit D, Vit B12, Magnesium. Had blood tests that showed I was deficient in all.

Bunnyofhope · 29/06/2026 23:57

Just vitamin d

curiositykilledthecat0 · 30/06/2026 00:09

Iron supps, methylfolate and VitD. Was previously low in all.

MeAndMyGhost · 30/06/2026 04:43

Had a battery of blood tests done last year which showed I was low in Vit D & B12.

After loading doses of the latter, I take a chewable B12 supplement that makes me feel more energetic (plus my hair and nails look great) and a monthly Vit D pill. I'm not great with swallowing pills, but those seem manageable.

Magnesium every night has transformed my sleep - took a few months and it’s amazing

CoQ10 to help fight the statin side effects

Riboflavin daily has stopped my migraines for the first time in my life

NippyNinjaCrab · 30/06/2026 04:53

Omega 3 6 9 daily

Vitamin D during winter, B12 as low, and magnesium. I see Vitamin C is popular but I try and have a glass of orange juice every morning for this.

Shouldhavebutdidnt · 30/06/2026 05:57

I take the NuMind menopause supplements and last year they took me from really struggling with peri brain fog / tiredness to feeling like myself within 6 weeks. Genuinely changed my life.

I also take Iron as I’m borderline anaemic and HRT patches.

in the cupboard I have high strength vit c and zinc that I take any time I feel under the weather.

But I’m 50 and it depends on age / need

Amilliondreamsisallitagonnatake · 30/06/2026 06:29

Probiotic with vitamin d and zinc. Vitamin c and d supplement. Sometimes iron but I’m a bit inconsistent with this. I’ve just added fish oil which I find hard to tolerate

This sounds much more delicious than a tablet!
